Chapter 5: The double date

Riley's P.O.V.

As we walk into the restaurant, Anton's. The smell, and the warmth of the cooking food is incredible. The smell of freshly cooked barbecued ribs, homemade soup, seafood, popovers, steaks, and salads just warms me up, and makes my nervousness drift away. At least for now..

We walk up to the front desk of the restaurant, and to check in for our reservation. The waitress shows us to our seats. We are sitting at a 4 seat table in the center of the room in the restaurant.

Andrew pulls out my chair for me to sit, while Tristan does the same for his date. Then they take their seats. The waitress asks us what we want to drink.. I start to think what I want, while Andrew, and Tristan's date say what they want. Andrew ordered a coke, and Tristan's date ordered an orange soda. Me and Tristan finally ordered, and at the same time, we both said, "Kiddy Cocktail with cherries, please". We both just looked at each other,for a second or two, and smiled a bit.

The waitress said she'll be right back to ask us what we want to eat. After that me and Tristan started laughing a little.. I can't believe that's still his favorite.. I remember when we got our first one together on our first date.

Anyway.. Before the waitress came back to ask us what we want to order to eat, we introduced ourselves, as well as our dates. We started a little small talk, and It wasn't extremely awkward yet.. hopefully won't.

The waitress finally came back to ask our order, but we didn't even get the chance to look through the menu's. So we all looked quickly through them, and figured it out. I new this one right away. I ordered a steak, with a side of a salad, and a single popover. The others ordered things from the seafood section, and let me tell you I am not a big fan of seafood.

Anyway.. once again me and Tristan seemed to ordered everything the same. I Kind of forgot how similar we are.. It's kind of weird. Yet makes you wonder why we even broke up in the first place. Yet, there's this idea where 'opposites attract'.. I wish we hadn't, cause I never wanted our relationship to end. Wow that doesn't sound bad, we both have our own dates. Tristan's date which let me tell you is totally all over him!! Ha ha.. just kidding, she is actually a very polite, sweet, and beautiful girl. And my friend Trisha, that tried super hard to find mine for that matter. Wow.. I am kind of embarrassed that I couldn't find my own date. Now that is pathetic and immature of me. I mean seriously.. I am 23 years old for crying out loud. Gees, I remember a time at a family gathering, a cousin of mine once started this discussion about, girls and shoes, and girls and shopping, and all these cliche things. Also he brought up a thing about girls overthinking everything, and at first I was like you are full of it.. but then I now finally realized that girls do over think everything. Like me right now, and every stinking day of my life. How embarrassing! I need to stop!! ugh.. okay I am finished. *Knock on wood*- so It doesn't happen. When I did that I actually knocked on wood.. well duh! okay, so once I knocked on the wood for what my neighbors around the table didn't know why I did that.. Is because they can't read minds, can't read my mind!!

They still have those confused faces on and then ask all together, "Are you okay, Riley?"

I say,"Oh.. yes. I'm sorry I knocked on the wood because when you say something and don't want to jinx it you knock on wood, to not jinx it." They still are confused so I ask. "What you've never heard of that?"

As I look at their faces waiting to see if the respond to my recent actions. They somehow answer through their facial expressions, their answer was a mix of slight confusion still, yet a reassurance that they understand now.
