Getting home wasn't too much trouble, I mean when your practically invisible and get on the back of the bus no one sees you. I grabbed my spare key from in my pocket and unlocked the front door, swinging it open to reveal the dark hallway.
"I'm home..." I called out to no one special, I knew mum worked late on Fridays so there wasn't too much point in calling out. I stumbled my way through the dark and managed to get to my room without turning any of the lights on. Leaning against the door frame, I flipped the light switch and threw my bag on the floor. With another sigh I sat on my bed and held my head in my hands, feeling defeated and sorry for myself. The pinging of my phone brought me out of my thoughts, I raised an eyebrow not even my mum texted me. Feeling curious, I picked up my phone and looked at the notification.
AJ <3: Hey! It's AJ just wondering if you wanted to hang out tomorrow
I stared blankly at the text, before realising I actually have a text directed to me and AJ wanted to hang out with me. I felt the heat rise off the back of my neck and reach my ears, I shook the feeling off and procrastinated about what to write back. I think I sat there for a good fifteen minutes before I responded.
Tobae: Hey! Yeah sure, what time?
I sat my phone down and regretted even going to school today, was that too quick to respond? Another notification sound alerted me that AJ got back.
AJ <3: How about 1:30??
Tobae: sounds like a plan ;)
Did I seriously just send a winking face? God I'm so lame. I sighed, setting my phone back down and heading towards the kitchen, turning lights on this time. Avoiding tripping over the carpet in the hallway, I finally managed to make it too the kitchen. Swinging the cupboard door open, I immediately snatched up some two minute noodles and threw it on the counter behind me. I grabbed a fork from the top drawer and put the kettle on. It was a silent minute waiting patiently for the sound of the kettle. I tore open the noodles right before boiling point and placed it in a bowl.
The tap of the flipping kettle switch thing signalled the water was ready. I grabbed the handle and cautiously tilted it onto the noodles. When the noodles were covered I put the kettle back in place and sighed, pondering what to do for two minutes. I wandered over to the fridge, snooping around for something to drink. Looking at the bottom of the door, I spotted a half full sprite bottle. I picked it up and placed it on the bench, next to the noodles. Speaking of noodles, I picked up the fork and checked how cooked the noodles were. I figured they still had another minute to go, because they were a tad bit cRoNcHy. Another sigh escaped my lips when I heard the faint chime of my phone go off from my room.
I cocked my head to the side, leaving the noodles and making way back to my bedroom. I picked up my phone and unlocked it, seeing I had one unread message. I opened up my messages and was genuinely surprised.
AJ<3: Heyyy, so tomorrow.. meet me at the arcade?
The arcade? Only weirdos go to the arcade, I mean I go there most weekends but AJ? There was no way she was a dork, she acts to cool for that. With my phone still in my hand, I went back to the kitchen.
Tobae: Yeah! sure
I let out a small breath, slightly giddy from excitement for tomorrow. I put my phone on the bench and rinsed out the water from the noodles and adding the flavouring, before mixing it in. I pushed the bowl to the edge of the counter top and sat down at one of the stools. Turning the bottle cap on the sprite, the satisfying fizz noise filled the room and I took a quick sip before screwing the lid back on. Placing the bottle back down, I began eating the noodles.
