P.O.V- Kashia

Everyone has secrets right? Well I don't think anyone's secret is the same as mine. I mean, who can control water?

I found out that I could control it at my thirteenth birthday party. We were about to cut the cake when I realized I had to go to the bathroom.

When I finished doing my business I went to the sink and washed my hands. While I was in the middle of my ABC's a water pipe blew. Next thing I know water is flying everywhere! I was freaking out while trying to figure out what to do. I didn't want to tell my parents because they would ground me.

If my friends found out they would laugh at me.

At my school, news travels fast. If you trip first hour, by the end of second everyone knew. What else could you expect from such a small school? There were an average of 100 kids in each grade.

Back to the point, water was getting everywhere! I clenched my fists while trying to figure out what to do. When I took a peek at the water it was frozen solid! I unclenched my fists and water was spraying everywhere again. I tried this theory a few more times and it worked.

Ever since I got my "powers" as i like to call them, I have learned that I can: breathe underwater, turn into water, teleport across bodies of water, absorb it, make it move, and heat it up.

I remember when I was little I used to dream about having powers, but in reality it's not that great.

When I get really emotional I can't control them very well.

Maybe I should have started out by telling you a little bit about myself. My name is Kashia Carver, i'm 18 years old and on the swim team. I'm in the 12th grade, average looks. Blonde hair, green eyes, average height. Nothing special. My parents names are John and Sarah Carver. I have never had a boyfriend.

I mean, don't get me wrong, people at my school are cute and all. It's just iv'e never liked anyone as more than a friend. I'm not very popular, though I have friends, I just don't like bringing them to my house.

Whenever people come over they always question me about why I look nothing like my parents. I don't think i'm adopted. Yeah, it's a little suspicious how I don't look anything like my parents or relatives. If they don't tell me i'm adopted then i'm not.

I'm also not one of those girls who only care about how they look or what other people think of them. I honestly don't care what people think about me.

My best friends name is McKenna. She's the only who knows about my ability to control water. We've been friends since the ninth grade. That's when she moved here. We both didn't have very many friends and were just always there for each other.

She's also the only one I trust to come over to my house.

The school I go to is called Meadow View High. In my very small town of Meadow View everyone knows everyone.

It was the first of March and I had to wake up at 7 a.m. for school. It usually took me 20 minutes to get ready for school, but I stayed up until 2 talking to McKenna. She wouldn't stop worrying that her crush, Braxton.

Braxton Peters was the school heart throb. Almost everyone had a crush on him. He was very popular, had green eyes, brown hair, and had been talking to McKenna for a while.

She's had a crush on him for a little over a year. I didn't know what was to like about him. Yeah, he played football and was captain of the team, but popularity isn't all to look for in a person. It was 8 when I pulled in to the school parking lot. Holy mother of fudge sticks!

School started at 8:10!

If I was late again I was going to be grounded. I ran inside the brick building and rushed to my locker. When I got there Braxton was standing there waiting for me. He immediately started talking. "Hey Kashia I need some advice." Wait a minute, Braxton Peters wanted my advice? Hell must have frozen over.

"Ok......" I answered. "Really you'll help me?" I nodded and he smiled. "Great! You see I have been talking to your friend McKenna lately and I have had a crush on her for quite some time now. I don't know if she likes me back." I was full out grinning now. He likes Kenna! That's awesome. I immediately replied with a yes. "She does? Yes! Do you think i'm moving to fast if I ask her out?"

I thought about it for a minute and remembered that she's liked him for a year now.

I told him that he should ask her and he was grinning even more. Gosh, you would think that I just gave this guy a lollipop.

With that said I had to get to class so I said my farewells and made my way to the classroom. I was practically running to class so I wouldn't be late. I got there 10 seconds before the bell rang. Thank gosh! McKenna looked back at me and glared.

She then pointed to this nerd guy. My guess is that he asked her out again. When was Daniel going to get it through his thick skull that she's not interested?

I feel bad for her.

The next few classes went by pretty fast and next thing I know its lunch time.

When I sat down at McKenna and I's table she glared at me. Then Daniel came and sat down next to her. I got up and walked over to him. After I whispered something in his ear I sat back down.

"What did you say to him?" she asked me. I contemplated telling her. "It can't be said on school grounds." I told her. She nodded and then we both ate in silence.

The rest of the days classes were how they always are and before I know it i'm walking through the front doors to our living room.

When I walk in my parents are deep in discussion.

I try to close the door as quietly as possible, but knowing me they heard me anyway.

"Kashia dear come sit down for a minute." I nodded and made my way to the couch. When I sat down I noticed the looks on their faces. They looked sad. "Honey we are going to be totally honest with you when we say this." again, I nodded. "Kashia, your adopted."
