HAYATO DROPPED TO HIS KNEES, TEARS WELLING UP IN HIS EYES. The morning repeated, just as it did previously. If he let this continue, then the cycle would never end. Was there nothing he could do?

"I c—couldn't stop it..." he sobbed profusely, unable to stop the tears from falling down his face.

"Th—Those four got a—attacked, too. It's no use, no matter how hard I try. In a—an hour, F—Fate is going to e—eliminate those four, t—too..."

He shut his eyes and clenched his fists, his knuckles turning white. He couldn't even kill himself, and because of that, [Name]... [Name]. The guilt he felt was insurmountable, and he couldn't bear to visualize her in his mind. When he saw her crumble to pieces before him, it was like his heart stopped. If only he could return to the idyllic school life—the happy, halcyon days where he wasn't aware of the happenings in this town.

Did Kira have to seize those moments he enjoyed with [Name]?

Was her imminent demise deserved?

Did he deserve to live after seeing her die?

No matter how troublesome his death would be for the man, it's justified for indirectly killing his friend—someone he cared about. Bites the Dust automatically protected him, and he hated it. The thought made him reel back as if it was some unpleasant miasma creeping into his respiratory system. There was no way to reinvigorate his energy after this loss; essentially, it was a game over. All routes led to death, especially with the ways Kira finagled his victory every loop.

Yoshikage Kira was too much of a monster; he was almost like a hedonist. His existence and presence was a harbinger of bad news. Either he had to die, or he had to undo Bites the Dust for whatever reason before Rohan exploded. If Bites the Dust remained active, then those four would die...

[Name] would die.

Taking in a deep breath, he inhaled a fresh breath of oxygen, looking out the window. He blinked his tears away, wiping away any stray ones with his sleeve. Shakily, he took out his box cutter from his backpack, the blade reflecting the sunlight from the window.

...

Either... he has to die?

Hayato never thought he could kill someone.

No, he didn't want to kill anyone. There was no way an eleven-year-old boy like him could kill someone.

But... if it came down to it, would Hayato take someone's life?

If—hypothetically—he had to kill someone to save someone else, would he do it? What if it was himself and someone dear to him? Would he sacrifice himself for the greater good, or would he give in to his will to survive and not give up?
