Hi! I hope you like this story and my writing.
Adrien POV:
I glanced over at Marinette again as her hair fell loose from its tucked place behind her ear.
"Adrien?" Her voice made my heart skipped a beat.
"Hm?"
"Is there something you need?"
"No... why?"
"You've looked at me for the seventh time in the past half an hour." I could feel my face heat up. I didn't know that she noticed me taking a peak at her. I don't know what has been happening to me lately. Despite me being with Kagami, I wanted to be closer to Marinette and I feel like- I feel like I really, really like her as a friend-brother kind of way.
"No, nothing. I just- I just get distracted with small movements like- like when your hair falls out of place." I say as I reach out to retuck her hair behind her ear. She smiles at me and thanks me but she doesn't seem to have reacted to me being close to her at all which slightly disappointed me but I was completely disappointed when her face lit up at the person who walked in a moment later.
"Luka!" Marinette cried. Jumping up from her desk chair, which was place right next to my desk in the co-head's office at the Agreste, to run up and jump into his arms. I felt my heart squeeze and I smiled slowly but with a grimace at Luka's arrival. It hurt me to know that Marinette was with Luka. It's not like I like her, I was just protective over her.
"Hi," Luka had waved at me with a smile.
"Hi," I returned the smile.
"I hope it's okay that I steal Mari for some lunch." I wanted to protest that we had a lot of work to do, but Marinette jumped in before me.
"Of course it's okay! And you're not stealing me," She smiled up to him, "I'm already yours." At that moment I had wanted to pull her back from his grasp but just when my thoughts had drifted off they had already left. I sighed returning to work before I heard a knock on the door.
"Hey Adrien," I heard a smooth voice greet.
"Hi Kagami." I reply.
"I won't be joining you for lunch today, I have a fencing tournament and I hope that's okay."
"Of course, that's no problem at all. Good luck!" She had left.
My relationship with her felt strange. It doesn't feel like there was any chemistry and we were too... formal. I remember the way that Marinette jumped up and hugged Luka when he came in. And how they always said goodbye and ended calls with 'I love you's and how they would give each other cute nicknames, like I would do as Chat Noir, and always made time for each other. I sigh again.
"You good, man?"
I look up to see Alya and Nino standing hand-in-hand at my office door, they haven't left each other's sides since they got engaged half a year ago.
"Yeah, I'm good."
"Well it doesn't sound like it," Alya remarked.
"Huh?"
"You've sighed multiple times in the past hour Adrien, we know when something's up," Nino added.
"Well..." I contemplated on telling them the truth. "I don't know if I want to be in a relationship with Kagami anymore." I looked up at them and my face mirrored theirs in shock as I realised that it felt so true to say it out loud.
"What? Why?"
"I... I don't think I feel anything with her. There's no chemistry, no feelings. We're not incredibly close and I want a relationship that makes me feel warm and sweet inside. I want a relationship like... like Marinette and Luka's."
Alya suddenly looked up, "why is Marinette and Luka's relationship the one you want your relationship to be like. I mean, why is it not mine and Nino's or Mylene and Ivan's or Juleka and Haruto's?"
"I mean your relationship dynamics aren't bad it's just... they seem so in sync and in love. They have differences but they treat each other like nothing else matters in the world. I don't see them together often but the way Marinette talks about him. The way she smiles so sweetly, the way she talks about him and compliments him every time, the way she gets super excited to see him despite seeing him everyday, it's... so sweet yet you want that relationship so badly and... and that smile and the way she toys with her midnight blue hair when she talks about him it almost seems so magical. I guess I'm just jealous of their dynamic. I'm happy for Marinette, I mean such a beautiful, sweet, kind and talented girl deserves true love, it just doesn't sit right with me. Maybe I'm just protective over her."
Alya and Nino had both stared at me and quirked an eyebrow at the same time.
"What?" I inquired.
"You really don't know what your feelings are?" Nino asked.
"No, there's nothing to be feeling."
Nino facepalmed and Alya shook her head and massaged her forehead like she had a headache then she made a very confusing statement.
"You dense hippo."
Ok that's all for today's part. Hopefully, you liked that!!! See you next time :) Oh and happy new year!!!!
