Matthias lolled his head against the window, his breath fogging up the glass. He watched as Lukas emerged from the flashing red and blue lights as he came around and into the car. He felt the taunts in his tongue wanting to escape in their own venture, but instead he decided to keep quiet. The engine purred then roared as Lukas began to drive. It almost felt normal, a wave of nostalgia washed over him. He couldn't help but to remember the past, interwoven in the back of his thoughts. Now each thread was uncoiling bringing back those memories.

Matthias would just be leaving a party, it was back in those high school or college years and he was beyond wasted. Lukas would be half dragging his ass to the car, dealing with the slurred complaints that flew from his mouth, as he would throw him in the back passenger seat and drive him back home.

The only one he knew to hold enough responsibility to do so.

"Lukas, you know I won't let you take me so easily like old times, right?"

Matthias assured, feeling the heat of his phone in his pocket, remembering Tino was on the other end. Lukas glanced up at him through the rearview mirror. His eyes seemed to pierce through his deception. But he didn't waver, he's changed over the years and Lukas noticed that about him. He wasn't the same man that he would carry home, who would joke and laugh about every detail.

This man was dangerous.

They lurched to a halt. Matthias could see the police department loom in it's own quarantined confinement. Lukas stepped out of the car, opening his door he pulled Matthias out. His fingers slithering on his neck.

"I don't want you to make a single move when we're inside, understood?" Lukas hissed.

Matthias smirked.

"Promises and deals are what I cherish the most."

The sound of their heels clicking in unison echoed on the marble floor. Lukas held Matthias firmly, leading him through the bustling engaged workers that were mixes of ranked detectives and officers.

The atmosphere was almost perfect for Lukas. Matthias could smell the scents of ambrosial coffees and see the tired worn faces of workers pass by with dark circles stained underneath their eyes. This was Lukas's territory, even so it never stopped him from invading.

Once they entered the bright whiteness of the room (which was just but another spotlight directed at him). Matthias set himself down on the creaky plastic foldable chair on the end of the table. He rested his cuffed wrists on the surface slightly picking his nails he waited for Lukas to sit, but he stood there in his usual composure, arms crossed, violet eyes collected calmly, but seething.

"You going to sit?" Matthias asked drumming his fingertips on the silver metal cuffs.

"No." Lukas flatly answered.

"You know you won't get anything by interrogating me don't you-?"

The sound of the door bursting open caught them off guard, someone had just entered the room or rather barged in, interrupting Matthias. It was Arthur Kirkland, with a choleric expression fuming on his face. He pulled Matthias by the collar, his eyes raging.

"How did you contact them?" He seethed through clenched teeth.

"I don't know what you're talking about." Matthias responded airily. Arthur pushed him letting him go, Matthias got up before the chair had landed back. Lukas's eyes seemed to widen a bit in surprise from his sudden reflexes.

"Arthur what is the problem?" Lukas asked, trying to figure out just what the Brit was accusing of.

"This wanker here somehow had contact with his gang during the past forty-five minutes. They're edging close and I have a feeling they won't be friendly. "

So that was it. They were going to bust out their leader, and of course they were going to pick up a fight.

"Who is it Matthias? Tino? If so it's not much of a guess that Berwald will be with him."

Matthias didn't speak. So he wasn't objecting, which meant that Lukas was indeed right, his loyal Buttons were coming, meaning he had an upper hand of knowing their skills and capabilities.

"Arthur, be ready we need to get Matthias out as soon as possible I know these men. One them is incredibly skilled in sniper, the other has strength, he can do hand to hand combat very well.... "

Lukas glanced at Matthias as he said this, he recalled the matches that Matthias constantly picked on Berwald, fighting until one them bled, both of them were practically evenly matched opponents when it came to strength.

Arthur nodded taking in the new information.

"I'll call in the others to be aware; you get him out of here."

Lukas agreed, leaving Arthur behind he grabbed Matthias by the arm rushing him out through the chaotic halls. Turning left he could see the main doors come to view when the windows shattered.

Glass shards gleamed in the light, falling in fragments.

Everyone began ducking shielding themselves behind their desks. Bullets blasted, piercing at the skins of officers and splintering wood. Lukas did the same bringing Matthias down with him. There was a resonance, the vibration of an explosive going off rang in his ears, pieces of concrete landed in immense thuds.

Lukas looked up at the hole that now covered the wall. Standing above them approximately one hundred and eighty two centimeters was Berwald.

His face was ashen, sweat beaded down his matted blonde hair. His blue eyes were vibrant behind his thin framed glasses. He was clutching his staff, which was a plain black rod. Catching sight of Lukas he swung his weapon towards his direction. Lukas dodged the hit standing now he reached for his gun, but Berwald didn't give him time. He had aimed for his stomach the hard blow caused Lukas to stumble back. His breathing was heavy as he struggled to catch his breath.

Lukas instinctively reached for his gun again, but felt air instead. He turned and saw Matthias standing, pointing his gun at him. His hands were still tightly bound but it didn't mean he couldn't handle a gun.

The explosive was the perfect time for Matthias to take the advantage, after all Lukas was caught off guard.

" Well? Are you going to shoot me or stand there like a fool?" Lukas stated nonchalantly.

In truth he was fused with anger. He was outwitted out of all people it was by Matthias. Matthias lowered the gun slightly, he spoke, but not to him.

"Tino you there?" Lukas could hear the distant response of Tino's voice in speakerphone coming from his pocket.

" Yes where are you Matthias? "

"I'm in the main lounge where you decided to randomly shoot at."

"Oh sorry!"

" It's fine you're best at shooting distant you couldn't have shot me unless intended now hurry up and-"

Matthias felt his knees buckle. Lukas had kicked him, but that didn't do much he raised the gun but Lukas was fast.

Matthias felt his fingers curl around his neck as he tackled him down. Falling on the ground Lukas wrestled to pry the gun from Matthias's fingers. He kneed Lukas on the chin. He stood up heading for the door. Getting up Lukas immediately stood as well, but before he could make another move the sound of the gun going off and the searing burning sensation that erupted in his leg caused him to fall again.

Matthias had the gun pointed at his leg, tendrils of faint smoke rose from the muzzle.

"This game has just begun Lukas, I'll take everything you've ever accomplished since you're independence."   He snarled, his words vindictive.

Turning away he dropped the gun behind him. Berwald stunned for a moment followed after him defending him from the any other officers that dared to attack his boss.

Lukas only watched as Matthias ran away, his trench coat flowing behind him.

A darkening red stained cape.
