It's been two days and still no sign of Yashiro's sketchpad. They've been looking everywhere. And by "they", it was Yashiro, Aoi and sometimes even Amane. Still nothing. And Yashiro was afraid it's gonna be lost forever.
"Cheer up, Nene-chan," was what Aoi always said to her. "We'll find it somehow." But Yashiro didn't find that reassuring as time passed.
Now she was at Gardening Club. She was just tending the plants when Aoi approached her. "Nene-chan, if you want you can take a little break," she suggested to her friend. "You can return once you've cheered up a bit. Your mood affects the plants' mood too."
"I think that's a great idea, Ao-chan," Yashiro said, sighing as she stood up. Then she turned and walked towards a nearby bench where she sat down beside her bag.
Spring was the best time of year when they would start planting again and everything seemed more alive. Yashiro just wished she was as alive as nature was. Maybe drawing would boost my spirit, she thought with a small smile and pulled out a purple colored paper. She didn't want to use her writing pad—she never really used that for drawing since she found the lines a nuisance, saying that the lines affects the beauty of the drawing—so she didn't mind using paper that was colored. But knowing that a pencil won't be effective in this type of paper, she took out her colored pens and picked up the black one.
She did various curves, two dots, and for some reason was thinking about candy. Her father doesn't like it when she was eating sweets so she didn't really get a chance to eat one but she had tasted one though, making her favorite flavor strawberry. Smiling, she drew a candy and colored it with green and purple, drawing a heart at the center. She also drew some slanted lines below the two dots. Finished, she thought and looked at the cute drawing. It was a pink rabbit-like creature. She didn't know how she thought about it but just thought that it might look cute. It had a candy between its ears and the little blush she added just made it look cuter.
"Feeling better, Nene-chan?" Aoi asked her when she neared her and she nodded.
"Yeah, I feel much better now," she said, putting the drawing beside her. "I'm ready to help now."
Aoi smiled in satisfaction and relief. "Great!"
Behind them, Amane just passed by and saw the picture lying on the bench. He looked at it in surprise.
A few minutes later he was walking down the hall. It was scarcely empty since students were normally in their clubs at this time. He was tense in all parts of his body but not because of stress but alarm and worry. He might look calm on the outside but inside, his mind was racing.
No, it can't be her, he thought in a panic. The position is way too dangerous. The kannagi couldn't have chosen her.
But you found the picture right beside her bag, did you not? One of his hakujoudai said to him. It must be her. The position was normally given to a girl.
