Ben had left the school and was headed to a shopping mall to pick up some things. First he went to the supermarket to get some groceries, then he went to the Nike store to find some new clothes for him and the kids, and lastly he went to the jewelry store. He wanted to find Miranda a necklace since it was a first date and plus the price didn't really matter to him.
"Welcome to Kay Jewelers, are you looking for any in particular." the sales woman asked.
"Actually yes, do you have a 24 karat silver necklace for women and a 14 karat gold necklace in men's." Ben asked as he looked in the jewelry cases.
"Let me check and I'll get back to you."
While the sales lady went to check and see if they had what he wanted he looked at rings and one caught his eye it was an 8 karat oval diamond ring, it was beautiful.
"Are you looking to buy an engagement ring as well sir." the sales lady asked making Ben jump.
"Oh no no, I don't even have a girlfriend but do you happen to have some diamond earrings by chance for my daughter." Ben asked rubbing his hands together.
"I will check once again." She said with a laugh.
The woman came back with two pairs for Ben to choose and he chose the one on the left and went to check out.
"Your total is 1,229.25."
"Ok thank you here is my credit card just put it on there." Ben asked outing the card in the machine.
"Ok your transaction is done hope you have a wonderful day." the lady said with a smile.
"Thanks you to." Ben replied.
Ben was now headed to a floral shop to buy some roses for Miranda to. He walked in and set his eyes on a pair of roses and when he walked towards them he seen Miranda.
"Hey Miranda." Ben laughed.
"Oh hey Ben, funny seeing you here." Miranda said patting him on the shoulder.
"Yeah, if you don't mind me asking what are you doing here."
"I came to grab some flowers for my moms birthday, she would have been 76 today." Miranda said as she smelt the flower.
"Would have." Ben asked with his face scrunched up.
"Yeah she died about 5 years ago."
"Oh I'm sorry to hear that."
"No no it's ok, anyways I better be going to put these on her grave." Miranda smile even though she was a little sad talking about her mother.
"If you don't mind, I would like to come with you." asked Ben.
"Yeah sure that's fine." Miranda said with a smile.
Ben totally forgot about buying flowers for Miranda but he figured he would some back later. Anyways they got in their cars and Ben followed Miranda to the cemetery. Once they got there Ben helped Miranda out of her car and grabbed the flowers.
"I am very flattered but you didn't have to help me out of the car." Miranda said as she brushed off her shirt.
"I'm a gentleman and that's what a gentleman does." Ben said kissing Miranda's hand.
Miranda's face turned really red and turned away from him very quickly, once she had cooled down she grabbed the flowers from him and walked towards her mother's grave. Ben stayed towards the car and watched her walk away but he noticed she started to tear up so he walked to her.
"Hey it's ok I understand, my dad died about 8 years ago and it was rough on his birthdays to." Ben said as he put his arms around her chest from behind.
"I'm sorry I don't usually do this but for some reason today it just made me more sad that usual." Miranda sad as she wiped a tear away.
"Don't apologize, everyone goes through it."
"Ok well I need to get going, if I'm going to get ready for our date tonight."
"Me to, I need to go pick up my kids from school."
"You never mentioned you had kids." Miranda said with a confused look.
"Yeah i do, 14 year old twins, is that a problem." Ben accidentally fired back.
"No no, I like kids."
"Ok cool see you later tonight I guess."
"See ya."
Ben forgot that he didn't have to pick the kids up but glad he said something so he knew how Miranda felt about them. They waved goodbye to each other and got in their cars, Ben ran back by the flower shop and then went to the house. When he got home his phone stated to ring, it was his sister Angela.
"What do you want." Ben asked with a laugh.
"Well that's no way to greet a person but anyways what are you and the kids doing tonight." Angela asked while shuffling her phone around.
"The kids are with mom and I actually have a date tonight."
"Good for you Benji, so who is the lucky woman." Angela laughed.
"Her name is Miranda and she is a general surgeon at the hospital." Ben as he hung up the new clothes he bought today.
"Ok I'll talk to you later but fill me in on how to into goes."
"Gosh you and Aria both."
They both laughed and said their goodbyes. A couple hours had past and Ben decided he would start to get ready for his date. He laid out a navy blue sweater, a pair of gray slacks, and some brown loafers. After he laid out his clothes he jumped in the shower for about 10 minutes and when he got out he shaped up his beard and then combed his hair. Finally he put the clothes on that he had laid out and checked himself out in the mirror beside him. Ben texted Miranda and told him he was about to leave his house and would be there in about 15 minutes. Ben went to his garage to get his Audi R8 and out his long driveway he went.
"I hope she likes what I'm wearing, oh shit I forgot to put on cologne, at least I got her gift and flowers." Ben said talking to himself.
Ben pulling in Miranda's driveway when he seen her walk out of her front door.
"Hello there Mr.fancy, I see you during the new Audi." Miranda laughed as Ben came around to open the door for her.
"What do you know about sport cars." Ben asked licking his lips.
"Please I was an only child and my dad wanted me to be a boy."
"Good point, anyways you look wonderful and I also got you a gift."
"You didn't have to do that."
"Yes I did and here you go." Ben said handing her her necklace and flowers.
"Woah Ben this is way to expensive for me to have, I mean these flowers aren't cheap." Miranda said laughing.
"You're funny."
"No but for real this is to expensive, I can't take this."
"Yes you will and turn around so I can put it on you." Ben said with a wink.
Miranda did as Ben said and he clasped the necklace around her and itb fit her perfectly.
"Ben thank you so much, this is like the most thoughtful gift I've gotten." Miranda said as she put her hands on her chest.
"Well what if I gave you another gift." Ben said being very serious.
Ben leaned in towards Miranda and put one hand to her cheek and the other to the small of her back. Once he was so close that he could feel her breath, he decided to put his lips to hers with a very gentle and soothing kiss.
"I am sorry I didn't mean to do that it just happened." Ben looked very sorrowful.
"No it's ok, I enjoyed it." Miranda said with a smile.
Ben pulled out of Miranda's driveway and went into the city so they could find a nice restaurant.
"So how was the rest of your day." Miranda asked fidgeting with her hands.
"It was pretty good, I came home and took a nap, how about you." Ben said while laughing.
"I took a nap as well." Miranda said smiling.
The rest of the car ride was silent besides the radio in the background."
"Do you mind if we try this new Italian restaurant, my best friend Callie and her wife were telling me that it's really good." Miranda as she looked over towards Ben to admire him.
"That's fine with me."
They found an empty parking space, they both got out and walked to the restaurant.
"Hello can we have a table for 2." Ben asked the waiter.
"Yes give me one second so I can go clean off a table." the waiter replied
"Ok thanks."
"So you said you had kids, are you divorced." Miranda asked politely.
"No actually, their mom died during child birth so it's just been me and the kids ever since." Ben said as the waiter came back."
"Your table is ready if you would follow me, here you go." the waiter said as he handed Ben and Miranda menus.
"Thank you." they both replied.
"I'm sorry about your wife I did t mean to bring it up." Miranda apologized.
"No it's ok, you didn't know and it's been while so I've gotten over it." Ben said as he looked at the menu.
They both talked some more and ordered food that sounded delicious.
"I'm glad we're trying this place out, the food looked great, let's just hope it taste good." Ben said taking a sip of his wine.
"Ain't that the truth." Miranda replied.
Shortly after the waiter came back with their food and replaced their wine with water.
"Wow mine is really good, how about yours." Ben asked while taking a bite of manicotti.
"Delicious."
They finished their food and Ben was getting the check.
"I told you I could have payed Ben." Miranda said putting her hand on his wrist.
"I know but like I said earlier I'm a gentleman." Ben smiled.
They walked out of the restaurant holding hands and trying to find where they parked the car, eventually they found it and had a good laugh. Once they got in the car Ben turned the radio down and started to drive.
"I had a really good time tonight." Miranda said while tapping her leg.
"Me to, how about we do it again but I cook for you next time." Ben said as he put his hand on her thigh.
"Sound like a plan."
Shortly they arrived at Miranda's house and they talked for a little bit before saying goodbye.
"Goodnight Miranda, I guess I'll see you at work." Ben said as he started walking back to his car.
"Guess so." Miranda said with a smile
After that Ben pulled out of her driveway and was on the way home.
