A/N: This story is meant to be a spin-off of Mia Estella's short one-shot. You can find it in the comment section of the video above.
The thing you remember most about your grandmother was that she loved the view from her back porch. The one that overlooked the abandoned castle, barely in the distance. With the large distance from the city, very few people came each year to visit the place, however, despite the numerous attempts, no one could ever enter.
You knew that your grandmother wanted more than anything to enter the palace, however, to enter, a person would need a key. You smirked as you continued to drive over to the palace, your family heirloom dangling around your neck.
A key pendant passed down to women in your family. The palace was barely three hours away from your hotel, finally spotting the beautiful structure in the distance, you smiled.
You ignored the "no trespassing sign" (Like that ever leads to anything good) and continue towards the palace, once magnificent statues crumbling to the earth. You passed them all, looking with wonder at the structure in front of you. You slowly ascended the steps, marveling at the grandiose the deserted structure had, it wasn't hard to imagine that once hundreds of young woman ran towards the door, desperate to meet the handsome prince that had supposedly lived there.
You smiled, it would be like a real fairytale.
With a quick shake of your head, you walk towards the door, and took out your key, wobbling it into the keyhole. You smiled, doubting that it would work until you heard an almost inaudible click.
You pressed down on the handle, and the door swung open, covering you in a mountain of dust, but, it also revealed the fairytale castle you had envisioned.
You walked along the polished floors, staring at the beautiful paintings, decorative columns, and golden embellishments covering the walls. Everything was so clean, so preserved. For a castle that had remained untouched for over 300 years, everything seemed to be very clean.
The clicks of a pair of heels on the floor, made you turn your head, and you saw a woman holding a bright lantern.
"You've arrived, he has been waiting for you," She said, grabbing your arm, but you tried to pull away. However, the woman's grip was too strong.
"What are you doing?" You snarled, and she turned to look at you, her rudy face towering over yours.
"The key, you have it. You're the one." She then continued to pull your arm until you reached a dark hallway, where she finally let go.
"Who is he?" you ask, remembering the mention of a man. She ignored you walking back to the entrance, where you realized she was going to close the doors.
You hurried, trying to make it back through, but she was too fast and too strong, and the doors were slammed in your face, echoing off the high ceiling.
"Open this bloody door! I want to leave!" You yelled, pounding on the door, but there was no response, "Please," you added sarcastically.
"Am I that unhospitable?" A voice said, and you turned around to face the dark hallway, only illuminated by the cracks in the curtains covering the large windows, "You've just arrived, but you already want to leave," he continued and you continued to look around the hall, before finally spotting a figure slowly approaching you, his silhouette illuminated only by light seeping in from the window.
He continued to approach you, before stopping right in front of you, "Why don't you stay a little longer? The ballroom has very fine music, we could always dance." He says, and you shake your head walking towards one of the windows to see if it unlatched.
As you drew back the curtains, you winced the light piercing your eyes, making you blink. After a moment you continued your mission, however, there was no latch. Figures, on a window as large as this, it wouldn't open. However, a hand on your shoulder made you freeze.
"It's really you." The man whispered, and you turned around to see him in light. He had blonde hair, dark eyes, a fair complexion, and was dressed in fine clothes. What bugged you was how familiar he looked, but you couldn't seem to place where you met.
"We can finally finish what we started," He said, gently taking your hand and leading you down the hallway, towards a large pair of doors. You mind started to fade, losing all control of your body, until you blacked out.
The next thing you knew, you were pinned against a door, the man holding you in place, "Are you alright, darling?" He asked, and you froze.
"Who are you?"
"A man you once knew," he said, leaning closer to your face.
"No," you mumbled, turning away, and you felt him freeze, before stepping away. There was something in his eyes that disturbed you. Something is hidden, and as you continued to look you realized.
It was pain.
You took a step away from the door, planning to walk back to the entrance when your alarm clock screamed, waking you from your slumber.
You stared at the ceiling of your hotel room. The image of the castle still engrained into your mind. Was that all a dream? You wondered turning to your bedside table where you saw it.
Your key pendant wrapped around a rose, a note sitting just to the side.
This was just the beginning, my love
