For the most part, the fans response to them filming together was great. Mark didn't really pay attention too much to it, but Ethan sat scrolling through comments for like an hour as Mark went upstairs to upload his video. But of course, some people weren't too happy about it. That wouldn't bother Ethan, but gosh people were harsh. The gist of it was that they didn't want Ethan on Mark's channel for that long, and blah blah blah. Which was funny considering they were commented under his own videos.
As much as he hated to admit it, it brought back the insecurity Ethan felt yesterday when he was afraid of staying here. Like he was intruding but now it applies to youtube and he felt like he was intruding on Mark's whole life and on his channel and it felt horrible. Ot felt heavy on his chest and gross, and Ethan wanted to cry about it if he was honest. Though instead of crying, he decided to bring it up with Mark, because that was the responsible thing to do.
They didn't have to film together anyways, it was slightly easier and less time consuming however it didn't matter that much. They had nothing else to do really. It kinda stung though, deep down Ethan was looking forward to it. It was nice to film with someone, especially Mark. Phone in hand, Ethan nervously walked upstairs and knocked on Mark's recording room door before stepping in. "Hey what's up bub?" Mark asks, looking up from the computer and Ethan suddenly felt stupid and went to walk put but he stopped himself. His feelings were valid right?
He didn't like how he was being treated and the only way to stop it is to not film everyday together. "Hey uh, maybe.. I uh- maybe we shouldn't film.. together.. everyday." Ethan says forcing the words out of his mouth and Mark's face flared with concern. Where was this coming from? Was it something he had done? "Why? Did I upset you at all?" Mark asked and Ethan shook his head. "No, no of course not it's.. it's uh not you or us. I uh I just don't think it's a good idea." He manages out, he was stumbling over his words and did it suddenly get hot in here? And not in a sexy way either. This felt embarrassing for some reason.
Mark frowned, knowing that it was definitely deeper than that. He tried to think of what could possibly be wrong, then it hit him. Was it the fans? "Now is this your decision based simply on your own thought process or did other people make you feel like you had to make this choice?" Mark asks and Ethan shrugged. It was silent for a bit as Mark waited for Ethan to respond. "I mean, your fans don't want me on your channel for two weeks it's been made clear. I'm intruding and I don't wanna do that. I've done enough." Ethan mumbled the last part. The feeling of being annoying built up and his cheat burned. Why was it burning?
"Ethan I've already told you you are not intruding." Mark says while standing up and usually Ethan would listen but the tone of Mark's voice threw him off and he kinda flipped. "I am! I always am, always. Always." Ethan says louder and Mark stepped back a bit, taken back by the outburst. "Ethan I'm telling the truth. I understand you're upset but please calm down." Mark says, and he was. Ethan wasn't intruding on his life or channel. He genuinely wanted him to be there. Mark wanted them to film together and to enjoy their two weeks.
"Understand? You belong everywhere Mark, I don't at all. So you don't know." Ethan snaps and Mark immediately felt a pang of hurt hit his heart at the tone of voice. Ethan thinks he doesn't belong anywhere? "Ethan-" Mark starts, tone with a but of offense and just desperation as he goes to reach out for the smaller boy, who only stumbled backwards out the door, tears in eyes. Mark stood there stunned, trying to process what just happened.
He was kinda offended in a way, that Ethan thought that he would think he's intruding on his life. Mark wanted to run after him and comfort him but he knew letting him calm down was probably best to avoid an actual argument. Ethan simply was upset and he wasn't thinking straight, that's all that was. But going after him could lead to a real argument and that's really the last thing he wanted for either of them. It wouldn't last well.
