Alice’s POV
GRAND RE-OPENING OF THE OPERA DE POPULAIRE!!!
After six months of work, the opera house is finally finished and hungry to perform shows! It has been built the exact same way it originally looked, giving it an old 1800s flare to it that most opera houses no longer have. The first show to perform there will be ‘The Phantom of the Opera’. Fitting, isn’t it? Will this make the dreaded ‘Phantom’ show his TRUE face to the world at last?
“Strange things have been happening around the opera house these past few months. A lot of our guys have been missing their tools, which pushed us back in construction a good four weeks if you add all the hours correctly,” worker, Conner Mcthern, stated.
“So you believe that the Opera Ghost still lives then?” Our interviewer asked.
“Some of our workers don’t, but I do. Alice (owner) has her mind set that there is no ghost, but wherever Alice goes, a shadow that isn’t hers follows.”
“Do you think the Opera Ghost has found a new lover then?”
“Well, I think it’s because she is basically an exact replica of his true lover. It was Christine, but someone else. And Alice could very well be her doppelgänger.”
HAS the Opera Ghost found a new love? Is he even real? The only way to find out is to go to the grand opening of the opera house!
The owner, Alice DeLaney is looking for actors, stagehands, managers, crew, and tech for the show. Contact her at her email alice.de@opera.com for more information!
I was smiling as I read the paper again. We had made the front page! I’m not angry about what Conner said. If anything, I’m happy. This will send an even bigger crowd from opening night.
I sat up from my desk and looked around my room. Erik had built me my own office in the opera house. It was at the top floor and was defiantly the most beautiful room. It had old spruce wood floors and wooden beams for the roof. The furniture was all made out of very expensive mahogany wood. I had my own little nook to crawl in and look out the window into the city. Books lined the walls.
I heard a knock at my door. Must be the new managers. I walked over to the door and pulled it open, revealing a short, stout man with no hair on his head and a slimmer, scruffier looking man who looked to be in their late 40s. Both of them were beaming ear to ear. “Hello! Hello! Great to finally meet you!” I shook their hands and let them in. “Have a seat, if you like.”
They both sat in two chairs that faced my desk and I sat in my desk chair. “Ms. DeLaney, you don’t know how happy we were when we received a phone call from you saying you wanted to interview us for the managering positions.” The slimmer man, Allen, stated.
“Oh yes!” The other one, Craig said in return.
“Well, I’ve been doing a lot of research. I want only the finest crew in my opera house. I have heard a lot of good things about you two as well.”
“Oh yes! Very good things!” Craig said, whipping sweat from his brow.
“I want to address some legal things and then we can talk about your jobs here,” I told them, taking out a few papers.
Later
“Lastly, you are not to fire anyone who works here. That decision is up to me. I make all the final rules here.” I finished, putting the papers down.
“We totally agree Ms. Alice! We would never step on your toes either!” Allen said, shaking his head with every word her said.
I smiled. “Okay then boys, I think you two have got a job!” We all stood up and started walking towards the door. I shook their hands. “Thank you once again, gentlemen.”
