A Cyber Tale

Part 2

In one of the messages, the mysterious guy introduced himself as "Sam". Ann asked him why he had that name. He replied that it was just his nick name.

One thing that Ann liked about Sam was his sincerity in what he says in his emails. She never met Sam yet but she fully trusted him. Sam's messages were like those written by someone who wanted to tell those messages for years but is not able to. She appreciated the way Sam filled her heart with sweet words, the thing she would have wanted Mike to do.

As they were about to graduate high school, Ann and Mike became so busy that they didn't even have time with each other just like before. They cared for each other so they both tried to be understanding. But Ann was very much affected. She missed Mike so much until she felt like their relationship wasn't working anymore.

Ann's friendship with Sam got deeper. Sam filled Ann's heart with things that Mike wasn't able to fill. Accidentally, Ann fell in love with Sam, so she decided to give up with Mike. She called Mike to meet him for lunch the next day.

"Hi, My Lady" Mike said then kissed Ann on her cheeks.

"Hi" Ann replied casually

"So what's the matter? I missed you My Lady!"

"I'm fine" A simple reply from Ann

"Have you eaten? Shall I order?" Mike asked

"Listen to me Mike" Ann could hardly speak, it's as if her heart told her not to speak. "I invited you for lunch because of something important... It's about us"

"What about us? Is there a problem? I couldn't understand---"

"Mike!!! Don't you feel it? Our relationship is not working anymore! You don't seem to have time for me this past few weeks.... We're not even dating at all!"

"Oh come on Ann! Is this really the problem? We both knew how busy we are"

"No Mike, you are no longer the Mike that I've known before, I thought that it was just my emotional side but you seemed to be keeping things from me. What is it Mike? What is it?" Tears were now beading the corners of Ann's eyes. Mike was quiet, giving no answer.

"See? This is too hard for me Mike. But I'm sorry, I quit." Ann grabbed her bag to leave but she stopped when Mike started to speak.

"It's probably because I had been careless this past few days isn't it? It's because of the mysterious guy you met in the internet!! I warned you before not to make friends with him, but still you did... YOU BETRAYED ME!"

Ann was stunned by Mike's words. His voice was so loud that he caught the attention of everyone in the restaurant. Ann felt a little bit guilty, but she have decided already.

"I don't know what you're talking about Mike, I've got to go!"

Breaking up with Mike is really hard for Ann, but she thought to herself that she must move on.

"Maybe Mike and I were not really meant for each other"

For the days that followed, she kept herself away from the things that reminded her of Mike
