I believe that the ones that were able to command certain energy were considered sorcerers
they had the power to make things happen out of nowhere it was like existance owned them. However not everyone could have that ability

We are all energy from planets constantly destroying to plants constantly growing. With that energy some could do extraordinary things.

The sun was inactive due to a certain work an unknown organization executed. It was there but didn't function correctly. No one knew what happened and people begun to worry and search for solutions. Only the moon could be seen which caused a constant change of weather.
