On the Road

I kept looking over at my dad. He had this worried expression. I was worried too. Mom said if this ever happened she would either leave or kill herself. The thought made me shiver. I would never be happy again. It only took an hour for everything to go wrong. Stores were broken into. More zombies roamed the street. I was worried. Would I ever see my mom again?

I woke up to the car door opening. My dad handed me a bag of bagels. "Eat up" he said. "Bagels?". He nodded and I sighed. Then I checked my phone. What I saw made me jump for joy. It was a text message. From mom! It said she was safe and was with her parents. I breathed a sigh of relief. Then I showed dad. He sighed with relief to. I'm so glad she's okay. Now all we have to do is get there.

I looked out the window in sadness. Innocent people were now walking dead people. It wasn't fair. What even started this outbreak? Mom hasn't texted back. Im starting to get really worried. My dad tried to make conversation with me but I kept it short. I wasn't really the talkative type. I had my talkative days and I had my silent days.

My dad didn't go to sleep last night. I'm worried that we will crash. We end up pulling over. Probably a dumb idea. You wanna know why? Well when we woke up zombies were surrounding the car. We dont have any weapons. Suddenly they are all shot by a girl with red hair. "Hi I'm Mavis" she said. My dad thanked her and so did I. If it wasn't for her we probably wouldnt have been able to live to see mom. Little did we know she had a whole group. There was Jake,Alan,Paige,Mira, and Zach.

I waved goodbye to Mavis's group. They had been so kind to us. They gave us extra food for the road. I hope I see them again. If I don't though. Thank you for helping us."Bella hand me a water" says dad. I nod and hand him one. I have a feeling this is gonna be a long drive.
