The Beginning

Sadie made her way up the stairs of the University as fast as she could, trying not to be late to her lesson for the third time this week. She had been sitting on the green, skateboard under her arm and headphones blasting out music, and time had just escaped her. This was quite a common occurrence when she was listening to Def Leppard, or ACDC... or anything really. Sadie was about average height, with long brown hair that had red accents and was tied up out of her face. Her eyes were hazel, and when she smiled, she lit up a room. However, getting Sadie to smile was a challenge in amongst itself.

She slid into her classroom in a fashion not unlike that scene from "Risky Business", but instead of recovering smoothly, she tripped... straight into someone. Yes, it was one of those clichè love story moments with a crash and "oh look they're in love!". Except that's not what happened at all; Yes this is a love story, but it certainly isn't one like that.

Sadie was knocked to her senses, quickly pulled her headphones off her head, gathered her stuff and pushed rudely past the boy she had knocked into, not bothering to help him or apologise. He was much shorter than she was, and had a sketchbook in his hand. His hair fell to just above his shoulders and was held back behind one ear with a paintbrush; And his style seemed impeccable, as he wore cuffed jeans with pockets stuffed full of paint tubes, a Hawaiian Shirt that was undone most of the way down, and a necklace with a sword on it that hung in front of his chest.

Despite Sadie's rudeness, the boy brushed it off and decided to grab her arm before she stormed off. He spoke assertively, but didn't seem angry as he said sarcastically, "What a lovely introduction that was. My name is Owen, and it looks like you owe me some new paints," - he pointed to the mess of colour that was splatted on the floor, "you can make it up to me. Meet me at the Cafè across the street, tomorrow at 10. Don't be late."

Sadie walked off, barely acknowledging that he spoke, and responded with just a simple nod. She headed back into her psychology class and doodled through the whole thing, preoccupied. Who did that Owen fellow think he was? And what were they going to at a Cafè? Then she realised. What if it's a date?
