no one quite liked the fox,
his orange matted coat to them was ugly.
no one quite liked his teeth,
or the way he smiled smugly.
no one quite liked his grin,
they thought there was a monster within.
and were quite frightened to the brim,
he did not know where to begin.

then a rabbit came hopping along,
and sang her sweet melodies of song.
she roamed the forest and found the fox,
digging through a long lost box.
and asked him of his name.

he said with a grin,
"my name is pimkin,
and tales have told that i am somewhat grim."
"why are you grim?" the small creature asked
"why in the night i come and go in a flash.
i travel along,
and sing wretched songs,
and i don't quite belong in the end.
my eyes are yellow,
i don't mix well with your fellows,
and people think that there's a monster within.

"but i like you fox." she said in reply,
"you could help me when i travel at night.
the bears are too big so they will eat me,
and the bugs are too small so they can't help me.
and i like your yellow eyes,
they remind me of the moon in the sky,
and i think that your songs would go well with mine."

"you are not afraid?" the fox asked with curiosity,
she said, "no i do not have any animosity"
he said "then let's be on our way."
they traveled along,
and sang perfect songs,
until the end of their days.
