Jill and Carlos where standing in front of the door of their new apartement, filled with a mix of excitation and anxiety.
Jill looked down at the keys in her hand, a bit hesitant to open the door, but Carlos put a comforting hand on her shoulder followed by a reassuring smile.
-It's going to be okay. He softly stated to reassure her, and also himself by the way.
Jill took a deep breath and opened the door. She was feeling a bit ashamed for being anxious about something she considered so small.

They both took their respective luggages and left it in the living room as they started to look around themselves, trying to get familiar with their new home.
So much has happened in a such little time, and all they wanted now was to forget about their past, starting a new life, and maybe start new jobs which won't involve them risking their life and adding more on their unhealed traumas.

Jill let escape a small sigh, trying to shut down her thoughts.
-I'm hungry... She muttered, putting a hand above her stomach.
Carlos glanced at the clock hanging on the wall in front of him:
-Well, me too, but it seems to be too late to go shopping for some groceries. Maybe we should order some food and go to the grocery store tomorrow ? He suggested.
Jill nodded:
-As Long that there is food in my stomach, I'm okay with it.
Carlos let out a small laugh before taking his phone out of his pocket to check what was open near them. They both agreed on ordering pizzas.

Once their food was delivered to their door, they sat down on their couch, Jill grabbed the remote to put on some show. Because none of them could handle silence anymore, any  distraction was welcome.
Carlos handed her what she had ordered, and they both began to eat.
They stayed silent and simply enjoyed each other's presence. This wasn't feeling exactly like home yet, but it was to be expected, they stepped in this place only few hours ago. This was feeling a bit unreal to them, that everything was over.

Jill was getting a little bit more anxious as the time was flying by, knowing that she won't be able to avoid the moment when she will go to bed alone, and have to face her thoughts without any distraction to help her.
She came back to reality as Carlos yawned, and stretched.
-I start to get sleepy, I think that I Will go to my room and well... sleep. He explained in a hoarse voice.
She nodded before quietly answering :
-No problem, You need some rest. On my side I will stay there a bit, not tired yet.
Carlos stood up before gently messing her hair up.
-You also need rest, please don't stay up too late. He said, a bit concerned for her.
She sighed and rolled her eyes :
-It's okay I'm not a kid anymore, I'm a fully grown adult and I should be able to take care of myself alone.
-Alright, then good night super-cop. He said before leaving her alone in the living room.

Even if the TV was still on, the living room was feeling way more silent and cold now that he left. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, trying to calm down:
'Okay Jill, you need to work on that. You can't always have him around. It's going to be okay, you're home now.'
She was trying really hard to convince herself that she had no reason to feel that bad about it.

When she opened her eyes again, she jumped as the shadows were playing tricks on her. She really wanted to stand up to switch the light on, but she was frozed in place. 'Damn It's stupid ! There's nothing to be worried about !' she internally scolded herself.

On his side, Carlos was looking at the ceilling, hoping he could quickly fall asleep.
He was Still a bit concerned about Jill since he hadn't heard her coming upstairs. Maybe he was mothering her a little too much, but after they escaped racoon city and slept in different motels and all, well, she was barely getting any sleep. She  also hasn't been really talkative lately, like if she was finally processing everything that happened to her.
He couldn't blame her after all, he was trying his best to not show it , but his past has left deep scars within him too.
But on the other side, he can't help being worried for her.
Well, most of the fights they had lately were mainly about him mothering her too much.
He couldn't blame her for that either, Always having someone on your back can be really annoying.
He sighed and turned himself on his side, facing the wall, then closed his eyes, trying to empty his head.
