Once we got into the lodge, we found a table while Luke went and got food for all of us. "I think someone has a crush on you, Kas." Liz said while she looked at Luke. I looked at Luke and saw that he was looking back at me. Was I falling for Luke? The perfect boy with the blond hair and blue eyes? No way. Besides, if I did like him, we don't even go to the same school, so we'd never see each other. As Luke walks to our table, I see a group of 5 kids from my school. The leader of their group, Gabe, stands up and walks after Luke. The others stay behind and watch. I know what this means. This means trouble. "Don't you dare." I mumble under my breath as I get up. I speed walk towards Luke. As I look at Luke, I see that he looks confused. "Get to the table quickly." I whisper as I walk by him. As I get closer to Gabe, I notice that he is half my size. I know that I can't beat him in a fight, but I can definitely beat him out on the slopes. "Gabe." I say as I stop. He stays still for a while longer and finally says, "Kas. Didn't know I'd see you here. You don't seem like the kind of girl who loves the slopes." He says while looking over me at Luke. I can tell he wanted to hurt Luke. I nod and say, "I love the slopes. After my accident, I didn't have a team. I started skiing on my own, and now I'll be snowboarding and skiing with Luke." I motioned to Luke and Gabe winced at Luke's name. Gabe knows Luke. I just have to figure out how. "Well, I better get back to my table before he wonders where I am." I say. I turn away to see Luke standing right behind me.
"Gabe. Leave her alone. I can break you, and I'm not afraid to do it again." Luke says protectively. He steps forward so he's in between Gabe and I. Gabe walks away and Luke looks at me. I look down and we walk back to the table.
