As soon as I stepped into the apartment, I jolted back when I suddenly saw a bunch of confetti shoot out at me.

"Congratulations!!" I eyed Rome as he held his hands up with a white smile, balloon strings clutched in his right hand and a confetti stick in his left.

"You're cleaning this up." I said simply and he smacked his lips when I closed the door behind me.

I walked more into our place but stopped when I saw a large banner hanging across the kitchen walkway.

That's my best friend!

With a snort, I looked back and saw him pouting with his arms crossed. What a baby. "Thank you." I said and raised my arms to which he quickly hugged me. "You did this all by yourself?"

"Yup, I'm a big boy." He winked before pushing his hands against my back to usher me through the kitchen. "I even ordered a cake bro. You can't say I'm not the bestest best friend anyone's ever had, right?"

"Right uh.." I squinted my eyes at the cake when I read what it said. "Congratulations on the wen bestfrank." His eyes widened as he ran over and looked at the written words, a groan leaving his lips. "Did you not check it before I got here?"

"It just got here." I chuckled lowly and clapped his back before moving to the fridge to grab a drink. "Doesn't matter, it'll taste the same either way."

He had a point there.

After we settled into the living room (where we normally ate our dinner because we weren't true adults) I turned on Friday and ate my spaghetti in silence.

Rome was fidgeting a lot, I could see him from the corner of my eye but I also hated talking when eating so if he wanted to bring something up, he'd have to make the move.

Halfway through dinner, he did.

"Alright so, remember that news I had?" I looked over at him and nodded slightly while biting into the bread. "So, I spoke with your dad because you know how he's my manger or whatnot," I nodded again. "We had a meeting with a label and I'm all set baby. I get in the studio to record my official first single tomorrow."

My eyes widened. "Oh shit." I dropped the garlic bread onto the plate before dusting off my hands. "That's huge, Rome." He smiled down at his lap, suddenly giving me the impression that he had more to say. "What?" I questioned.

He looked up. "I want you to sing with me." I stared at him for a moment before letting out a sarcastic laugh and picking my bread back up. "I'm serious."

"I know, that's what's so funny." He sighed when I continued eating, not even entertaining his ass.

I stopped singing in the seventh grade. Stages made me anxious, lots of people made me nervous, fucking up made me nervous.

After the last time I sung publicly? Never again.

"Bro come on. I'm not asking you to go on tour with me.." I eyed him when he leaned forward and rested his hand on my shoulder. "I won't even credit you if you're worried about being noticed. Just drop a baby verse because I need you on this song."

I rolled my eyes when he did that puppy dog look that made most girls swoon. It made me wanna punch his ass in the mouth. "What's the song called?"

He smirked. "Keep Me in Mind." Of course. "Please. I'll do whatever you want. Dishes on me for a month, or even laundry. Whatever."

I silently chewed on my bread, questioning why I was even debating it. Luckily before I could even answer, I felt my phone buzz in my pocket which made me pull it out to see three familiar words.
