❅AVERY❅.
Let me tell you a big secret:
Someday, someway, you will make a decision that will make a big change in your life. It might be today, tomorrow, or two years from now, but trust me it will happen. The outcome of this however, might not always be a bad thing.
Here is another secret:
The best things in life flourish from change . You might not realize it right away, you might be too deep in complaining about it to even acknowledge it but when you do, if you do, you'll realize that change can also be beautiful.
In a sick, twisted way that is.
Change is beautiful because its constant, it happes over and over again and each time we trip and fall, we learn how to get up and keep walking, being more careful.
The day that changed my life started like any other day.
It started with a chilly monday morning, the perfect combination for a bad day. I could feel the colorless needles of the wind piercing my skin in a cold haze, the sky was lonely, not one cloud daring to come out on the cold. Yes, I was freezing but I still kept walking, Its not like I could miss school, My father would murder me in a heartbeat. Letting out a wave of unwelcome shivers, I reached out to my bag and took out my red beanie. My mom had made it for me a few years back, "Just in case." She had said with one of those smiles mothers have that make little things seem like a sacred present.
It was the last day of school before winter break, you could feel the excitement radiating from everyone as you stepped into the grounds of Jullian High. Their faces were tainted with this gleam that always takes over them at this time of the year. I walked around for a few minutes, wondering where my blond of a friend had wandered off, until a very familiar voice snapped me out of my search.
"Avery!" Vee yelled from behind me. My head immediately snapped back and I quickly made my way over to her.We were an odd pair, my friend and me. While she was this annoyingly happy bubble of sunshine, extremely popular and friendly while I was, well, not so high up the popular road as I couldn't say two sentences without stuttering and getting frustrated. Vee and I had known eachother since, well, forever and although we were so far appart on the popular chain she always seemed to be kind of just there for me.
"I think we could make outdoor ice creams with this weather." I hissed as I reached her, rubbing my freezing hands against each other.
"They would be ready in like, ten seconds." She agreed, doing the same with hers. Her blond hair, which was usually on a ponytail was now falling to her shoulders and her pale cheeks looked flushed from the cold.
"We could sell them and get rich?" I offered as we started walking again, now towards the class we were supposed to take the test on. Several boys looked up as we passed and basically raped my friend with their gaze.
"Only if I still get to eat them." She said with a smile. Vee was always cheerful in the mornings, something I found both horrifying and annoying. I was the devil in the mornings, truly, the reincarnation of satan.
On his period.
But its not like anyone noticed, I couldn't talk to someone for 10 seconds without feeling dizzy, and having to walk away. Vee of course, was an exception but lately she seemed to always be making excuses to get away from me.
"Wait, whats the room you were assigned to?" I asked as we neared mine.
She sighed before opening her binder to check her test schedule. "Um...409, why?" She said with a frown.
"Shit, I have 407." I mumbled, looking up at the door of my assigned classroom.
"Shit, shit okay, Avery." She said, grabbing me by the shoulders. "You are the smartest person I know, you will kick that test in the ass and then eat it for dinner."
