It was the worst day of the year.
Worse than April fools where I was always on the receiving end of the pranks and worse than saint Patrick's day where I always found I had the worst luck.
No, this day was even worse.
Valentine's Day.
The day that couples suddenly became smoochy smoochy and everyone made a unanimous decision that red and pink can and will go together. It was pathetic to see people scrambling for red roses and chocolate hearts that would only be a hinder to their recent diet plans made on New Year's Eve.
How stupid.
I don't need chocolate hearts to know someone loves me. And I don't need flowers that would only wilt in the next few hours to know I'm cared for.
"You're all blind." I stated, wiping the table from left behind crumbs.
"I don't understand! How can you NOT love Valentine's Day?" A spectacle Taehyung stood there, crossing his arms with a scowl on his face, "It's a day to celebrate LoVe, how bad could it be?"
Taehyung is my coworker. We work together in a coffee/breakfast shop that serves drinks according to the season. And he is very enthusiastic for every holiday of the year. Imagine my reaction when I walked in this morning to find him decked out with heart antennas and an apron decorated with pink and red hearts, complimenting his pink dress shirt.
"Taehyung there's so many hearts on you, I might want to barf."
"Nah uh. Save it for this Friday when we get drunk." Jungkook walked up to us, fixing his brown apron behind him with a smile. He too added a few hearts to his apron. And next to the corner of his eyes, he painted on sparking hearts that glimmered with every move he made.
"Jungkook. I'm not going out with you."
"Awwww. Why not? We would have sooo much fun." He stressed the word 'so' to elaborate the kind of fun he had in mind.
"Not interested in what's in your pants." I turned away from the smiling boy, washing another coffee cup while he stood there amused.
"You're quite quick to jump to conclusions y/n. I just meant getting drunk would be fun."
"Sure you were."
All of our heads turned once we heard a loud banging noise coming from the back room. It didn't take long for manager Kim Namjoon to push out another one of my coworkers who was even more dressed up than Taehyung.
"GUYS. TELL HOSOEK HE LOOKS INCREDIBLE IN HIS COSTUME." As soon as I laid eyes on the poor boy, I turned away and covered my smile with a snicker.
We all did.
He was dressed in a bright red heart costume that had eyes and a friendly smile. An "arrow" was shot through it and his red hat and red boots were absolute killer components to the felt costume.
"YOU LOOK RIDICULOUS!!" Jungkook burst out laughing, starting a chain reaction for the rest of us.
"Yea I love Valentine's Day—" Taehyung choked between tears, "—but not that much."
Poor Hoseok was now whimpering as tears welt up in his eyes. He tried to wipe his tears but the fat costume didn't let his hands reach his head.
"They're just jealous—" Namjoon began to push him towards the front door, "Now go bring in customers. Offer free samples! ONLY ONE SAMPLE PER CUSTOMER."
Defeated, the poor heart began walking towards the door, bumping into the walls before shifting sideways and sliding his way out.
"So back to what's in my pants—"
