Sasha

Sasha still felt happy the next day. A smile was painted on her face. She put on her harness. She tied her hair into it's usual style: a ponytail with two pieces of hair framing her face. She put on her Survey Corps jacket. She put on her boots and threw on her old tattered brown hunting poncho over her shoulders. She looked the Survey Corps patch on her arm. It was pretty compared to the Military Police's emblem, and it symbolized more. She walked out the door. Wearing the Survey Corps jacket sometimes frightened the girl. The wings of freedom emblem she donned promised freedom, but also promised death. It promised pain, and the fight for survival. One of the reasons she fell in love with Mikasa was because of how fearless the young soldier was. Sometimes thinking about her made her feel comforted.

Sasha mounted on the horse's back. The 57th Expedition was tomorrow. As happy as she was about the time she spent with Mikasa, she was still dreading the expedition. She rode into the woods with her bow and arrow. She wanted to practice her accuracy. She halted the horse and dismounted. She rubbed the horse's head and tied the reins to a tree branch and marched at least twenty-one feet (7 meters) into the woods. She found a tree. She loaded the arrow and aimed at the tree and let go of the string, releasing the arrow. The arrow dug into the tree bark. It was a perfect shot. She smiled. She took another arrow and repeated the same process, another perfect shot. She did this till she was down to her last few arrows. She lowered her weapon and sat down on the beautiful light green grass. She looked at the sky. Two red birds flew and tweeted. She sat down. Sasha set the bow and arrows aside and watched them fly. They eventually left her sight. They were free. They've been granted freedom for so long. They didn't even have to fight. Its different for humans. They have to fight. She buried her face in her palms. She has to fight for humanity's freedom. It was the doubt and inability to predict that scared her. That there was no telling if she will survive the expedition. She winced at these thoughts. She had remembered what Jean said. That the Survey Corps will die for Eren Yaeger's survival if needed. She chose this life. No one made her choose the Survey Corps. She could have joined the MPs with Annie Leonhardt. She had to be brave though. She had to fight.

Sasha walked to her living quarters. She didn't know why she wore her uniform. Mikasa was awaiting at her door. She wore her usual white blouse and red scarf. She wore the regular uniform with out the jacket and brown skirt only the harness. Sasha smiled brightly at the sight of her. "Sasha Chan" Mikasa said with a smile. When the word Chan came out of her lips Sasha felt so joyous. Mikasa always said Sasha-San the quick change from San to Chan made her so happy. She wrapped her arms around Mikasa. She pressed her lips against Sasha's rosy ones. Their lips parted and Sasha smiled so brightly. Mikasa smiled. "Would you like to come into my room? I mean you've been waiting for a long time." Sasha asked sweetly. "I've only waited for a couple of minutes." She responded. The two parted and Sasha opened the door. Mikasa walked in first and Sasha followed. "How are you Mikasa?" Sasha asked as she gently took off her brown cloak on gently put it on a chair. Mikasa leaned against the wall. "I'm alright, how are you?" She replied. "I don't know to be honest." Sasha answered. "I'm scared of the expedition." She said. "I'm scared of dying. I'm scared of losing my friends. I don't know why I chose the Survey Corps, but I'm happy that we are together. I'm happy that we can get through this together." Sasha said. Mikasa looked at her. "I'm scared too." Mikasa said in her regular nonchalant voice. Sasha couldn't help but feel surprised. She was never scared or looked scared. "I'm scared of losing my family again. I have confidence that Eren will be safe, but I'm scared of you dying. I'm scared that something will happen to you, Eren, and Armin." She explained. There was worry in her voice. Mikasa was just as worried as Sasha. Sasha held the dark haired woman tightly. Mikasa laid her head on her shoulder. Sasha knew what it was like to be scared when she had to be strong. "It's going to be okay Mikasa." Sasha comforted her. "I know it will."
