The Secret of The Grove Tree

The Elf in the Tree

Before Skylar could finish her question she awoke in her tiny room with her brother staring at her with a concerned look on his face. "Are you alright? You wouldn't stop talking in your sleep, you kept talking about a tree and an elf. Do I need to call Mom?" the boy says. "No" the girl reply's, "I'm fine, I think". Skylar starts to get up but turns to her window and sees that the sun is just now rising into the foggy morning sky. "You should go back to sleep it's only sunrise." she tells her brother. He nods and dozes off.

Skylar knows she should go back to sleep as well but can't after whatever her dream was.Skylar talks to herself under her breath so her brother doesn't hear, " I have to think of all the possibilities...... people have talked about elves being seen in the swamp before....maybe my dream was just because of me hearing of it and is probably nothing....... but maybe i'll just go and see if there is something at the Grove Tree."

Skylar's house is very far from the other houses in the village although she never knew why. Her and her brother's father had picked this place and built the house with the other workers just before he fell terribly ill and passed away shortly after. The whole village is centered around the Grove tree because it supplies fruit for the village and has a large river beside the tree that gives the tree its nutrients. The tree is the largest tree in Esmaldia and towers above everything in the kingdom. While Skylar is walking through the swamp she sees the other houses in the village and keeps her head down. Skylar never knew any of the other villagers and never really wanted to get to know them. Since the village is surrounding the tree she has to go through some of the houses to get to it. Skylar keeps her head down while walking which causes her to bump into a boy about the same age as her and they both fall to the ground. The boy has curly dirty blonde hair and emerald green eyes as appose to Skylar's dark black straight hair and chocolate brown eyes. The boy apologizes and stands up very quickly to help Skylar to her feet. Skylar says," I've got it." with a snarky attitude and gets up herself. "Are you alright? I didn't hurt you did I?" asks the boy. "No just a little dirty that's all." says Skylar. She looks at him a little longer and notices his clothes, he's wearing a green vest with a white shirt underneath with red pants and green shoes with points at the toes. He is also wearing a green and red hat covering his ears. Skylar gasps and says in astonishment," You're the elf from my dream?!".
