Chapter 8: Birthday Kidnapping

~ Two Weeks Later ~

Roselle's pov

~ Beginning of Roselle's Nightmare ~

I'm running through the storage warehouse, trying to get to Nik before it's too late. Alaric was immortal now. Not even the white oak stake could kill him, but I have to try and stop Alaric. I round the corner, and Nik's body is there, untouched... for now. I lift the coffin lid and Nik's eyes flash open.

"Nik, you're safe. I'll keep you safe." I say to him. Nik's eyes widen and I look behind me to see Alaric... with the white oak stake.

"Don't be to sure about that." He says with a smirk. In a flash, Alaric sends me flying across the room and then he stakes Nik.

~ End of Roselle's Nightmare ~

"NIIIIIKKKK!" I wake up screaming. I hug my knees, rocking back and forth on my bed. Nik is in my room in a second, hugging me to his chest. Tears are slowly streaming down my cheeks.

"What's wrong, sweetheart?" He mutters against my hair. I sob, preparing to speak.

"I've lost Henrik, Finn, and now Kol. I'd can't lose you too." I whisper, whimpering. Nik kisses my hair and hugs me close.

"It was just a dream, love. Nothing to it. Just a dream." He says, trying to coax me. I shake my head.

"It was a vision. A-Alaric isn't immortal, is he?" I ask, stuttering. I look up at Nik and he shakes his head.

"No, love, he isn't." Nik says. I nod and hug him. "Tell me about the nightmare, sweetheart."

"I was running in dark hallway at a storage warehouse. I was trying to get to you before Alaric got there, with the white oak stake. I rounded a corner and found you, but Alaric threw me across the room, and... and staked you." I say.

"Never in a million years, love, will I allow Alaric to become immortal." Nik says. I nod and hug him again. "Roselle, you remember what today is, don't you?" He asks.

"Yeah, Bekah's decade dance." I reply. Nik chuckles.

"Not just that." Nik says. He takes his hand and turns my head towards him. "You're 17 today." I jaw drops in realization. Nik laughs. I hug him tightly. "Happy Birthday, baby sister."

I set the lyric page out on the piano in the school music room. Caroline had reset the date for the half-time entertainment, and the talent show. To today. My birthday. I had changed my song in honor of my deceased siblings.

"Um, you know my name, obviously. I'm going to be auditioning with Home by AVICII." I say. Caroline smiles at me, and nods to the person playing the piano, then I begin to sing.

"Omg! I loved it!" She squeals. Caroline looks to the piano person. "Tell the other people we don't need to see anyone else." I gape at Caroline. She nods at me. "You got it! But there's one itsy, bitsy little task." She says. I raise a brow.

I nervously pace beside the stage, waiting for my turn on it. Then, the music stops and Caroline steps onstage. I now notice that Nik is at this dance. But Beks isn't. Well, at least one of my siblings are here. Elijah had run off with that Katerina skank. He was bound to be home in no time. Caroline looks to me, nodding. I obviously missed my introduction, and Nik was gaping at me. I look all the way towards the back, and see Noah, my now boyfriend for several weeks. He nods to me, smiling and I step onstage and Caroline steps off. Then, I begin to sing.

"Thanks, Nik." I say. He chuckles at me and lets me go, off to find Caroline, no doubt. I walk outside the school building to get a breath of fresh air, when I feel a hand being wrapped around my mouth. Then I am enveloped by darkness...
