Shu Kurenai. He was all you ever imagined the perfect boy to be. He had this aura about him, warm and calm. You got butterflies in your stomach when you so much as thought about him.
You've had a monster crush on him since you met him in the 4th grade, and it's only gotten worse over the years.
If you only had the confidence to just, go up and talk to him. But you couldn't, he was a member of the supreme four of Japan, a prodigy blader. And what were you? Just a newby that could barely hold up in a battle. No, you couldn't embarrass yourself like that.
"Hey!" A young boy's voice called out at you. You didn't hear, because you were lost in your own thoughts.
"Hey! Earth to y/n!" Another boy exclaimed. He stood near you and bent down, "Helooooooooo?" He said as he waved his hand in front of your eyes, cutting of your gaze at the concrete floor.
You snapped up and gasped seeing Rantaro, and a concerned Valt in front of you. You were a friend of Kiyama's for years, and when he befriended Valt Aoi earlier this school year, you kinda became his friend too by default.
Valt looked up at you worried, "y/n, is something going on?" He asked. You were a bit caught off gaurd. "You've been lookin' pretty down lately..." he continued, a slight frown on his little face.
You were touched that he was worried about you, he was so pure. Like a toddler in a 6th grader's body. "Somethin' been botherin' ya? We won't tell anybody" Rantaro asked.
You felt obligated to tell them. But it was kind of embarrassing. "You sure you won't tell?" You questioned. They both nodded, and leaned in like you were about to spill straight tea.
"It- it's Shu..." you started, until Valt cut you off.
"Shu?" He said softly, as if he were trying to make sure nobody heard. Valt didn't know about your "little" crush on Shu, but Rantaro sure did. Instantly he knew what you were talking about.
"Crush got you down eh?" He sighed, he was aware of how out of hand this had gotten.
Valt furrowed his brows in thought, "Crush?" Clearly he was trying to piece everything together, and he's not to good at all that intellectual stuff.
"Yeah... I just- I can't get him out of my head! He's everywhere!" You said, dragging your hands down your face. "Uhhhg.... I wanna tell him, but every time I try to talk to him I get all flustered!" You lied back in the bench and put your hands on your face once again. You let out a long moan.
"Oh I get it! y/n's got a crush on Shu!" Valt shouted out the obvious, alerting the rest of the bey club. Lucky for you Shu was at the local gym, and not on the roof with the rest of you.
"Ssssshhhhhhhh!!" You and Rantaro scolded Valt. Unfortunately it was too late.
"What's that I hear? y/n likes Shu?" Wakiya said smugly, walking over to the bench where you, Valt, And Rantaro were.
You sighed. Wakiya and you are technically friends, but Wakiya was more of and annoying older brother to you.
"Why do you always have to put your nose in our business?" Rantaro asked, annoyed.
Wakiya shrugged, "Just thought I could offer my expertise."
Rantaro looked back at Wakiya with a straight face, "You can't give love advice if you only love yourself." He stated.
"Oooh, burn!" Valt said quietly.
Wakiya gasped, "I have had a girlfriend, mind you!" He shouted, almost comically offended.
You all giggled, it was just too damn funny. You hear Daigo call out,
"How much did you pay her?" He asked bluntly.
You all bust out in laughter at Daigo's brilliant inclusion to the conversation. It was too perfect not to!
Wakiya grumbled before shouting, "Will you just hear me out!!" The laughter died down and you decided to see what the blonde bastard had to say. "If you don't act soon, Shu's gonna win the Nationals! And when that happens, he'll start flying around the world and you might not see him again, for years!" He sternly explained.
As you herd this, you got a little scared. You didn't want to live with that kind of regret. Wakiya was right, you didn't have forever. There was a pause, while you stared forward in thought. A funny voice broke the silence, "oh come on, y/n! It's not that bad!" It was Besu. You smiled up at Ken, him and his puppets always had a way of cheering you up.
You chuckled, "It kind of is though, I mean, I don't have enough confidence to just go up and ask..." you reminded them all.
Keru butted in, "Eh, you don't need that!" He scoffed. "Yeah, Ken's got an idea." Besu added.
"And what's that?" You asked. Ken then bent down, and whispered something into your ear. He was too shy to say it out loud, but he figured you'd understand, being shy yourself.
The others looked at you and Ken. "Well what's the idea?" Wakiya asked sharply. You began to explain.
"So here's the deal, one of you are gonna go find him with me. Now, while I'm out of sight, you ask Shu out for me. Then when ya get a date and place, come back to me and deliver the information! Boom, mission accomplished!"
You saw all the boys nodding in agreement of the plan. Then Valt piped up, "Well which one of us is going with you?" He asked.
You bit your lip, looking around at the boys. "Uhhh... I donno..." you drawled.
"We could put all our names in a hat and pull one at random." Daigo suggested.
Everyone looked at each other. "Well that as good an idea as any." You shrugged.
"Anyone got a hat around here?" Rantaro asked as he looked around. You all looked at each other and shook your heads.
"Hey Toko!" Valt called his little brother, "can we borrow your hat for something?!" Toko ran over quickly to answer Valt's call.
"Sure, no problem!" He said cheerfully, taking of his hat. He handed the small orange hat to Valt, as you took out a note book and wrote all the boys names. You then toor them apart and put them in Toko's hat.
You closed your eyes and shuffled the names around, grabbing a random one between your fingers. The folded piece of paper would soon tell just how easy this was going to be.
"Well, who is it?" Wakiya asked impatiently. You looked up at him a little concerned, as you told him whose name was on the paper.
"I got you, heh..." you said awkwardly. The blonde's eyes widened,
"What!? Why me!?" He whined.
"Because your name got pu-"
"That was a rhetorical question!" He yelled, cutting off Daigo. "Fine, y/n. I'll ask Shu out for you." He huffed reluctantly.
