"But father, must I stay in these doors all my life?"
"It is only for your safety, staying within the castle walls will only ensure nothing can harm you."
That was the only response your father would give you once you asked again and again. Sure, you were only 9 years old, but mustn't a youth like you be able to enjoy the outside world? Staying inside the castle walls wouldn't seem bad to an outsider, but to a member of the royal family, it was like being trapped in a stone cold prison. When your mother first conceived you, your parents protected you like they were their only survival left. However, once your father's guard was let down, she got killed defending her child, which was you. From that day, King Namjoon swore to never let anyone lay a hand on you, because he didn't want to repeat the mistake he made 6 years ago.
With nothing to do, you walked across the corridors towards your room, running your fingers against the ridged walls. As you reached your hand to open the door, you felt someone tap your shoulder. You turned around to see-
"Jungkook?"
Jungkook was your personal butler, your father assigned him to you when you turned 7. Although, Jungkook was just a month older than you, he's the type to be really shy, so you thought of him as your little brother.
"U-Uh, sorry to bother you Y/N.. but Sir Seokjin would like to see you over at the fountain," he quietly said.
Uncle Seokjin? But what will he have to do with me?
You smiled at Jungkook and he flushed red.
"Well I'll be heading over there now, tell father I said so for me," you responded.
You waved to Jungkook before making your way to the fountain.
You slowly made your way to the front of the castle as rays of sun hit your skin. Slowing down your footsteps, you flickered your vision across the surrounding area until you found your uncle. Your uncle is one of the castle's most finest princes, and known for attracting many other princesses to the castle.
"Ah, Y/N, I have something to talk about with you," Uncle Seokjin waved.
You ran over to his side and looked up and him.
"Yes uncle? What is it?" you impatiently asked.
He hesitated to speak for the first few moments, and took a deep breath and started speaking.
"Y/N, I understand you may object this, but.."
He sighed.
"Your father and I have decided to get you married when you turn 18."
The silence of the winds took over your conversation with your uncle.
"But uncle, why so early? Don't other people get married when they turn 25 at the least-?"
"It's something your father and I have talked over. We decided it was best you got married early, but don't worry. You will have time to bond with the princes as you grow up, but you must get married on your 18th birthday. Understand?"
You looked at the concrete floor and listened to the sound of the fountain's rushing waters. Although you felt it was wrong, you nodded.
"Good, now Y/N, you will be meeting the princes next week, so I suggest you got ready early when they arrive."
Your uncle started talking about other plans, but you completely blocked them out as you started momentarily panicking in your thoughts.
Why do I have to get married so early..? I haven't thought of any other royal members who would get married at such an age.. and what if I don't find any of the princes interesting? Would father be angry at me?
