Chapter 7: War

You were curled up into a ball on the couch, constantly thinking about your father. You knew it was the right thing for him to do, but you couldn't stop worrying about his safety. You turn around when you feel someone sitting on the couch next to you.

"You okay?" you heard the voice say. You finally met eyes with the person sitting next to you, it was Jungkook.

"Yeah I'm fine-"

"Don't lie to me Y/N," he cut you off firmly.

You sigh and look at the floor.

"I'm just worried about my father," you finally answered.

"His majesty?" Jungkook asked.

"He'll be fine! He's one of the strongest people I've met, trust me," a grin landed on his lips. You couldn't but smile back. Whenever you felt alone or down, Jungkook would always be there to lift you up. You hadn't had time to spend with him since you started going on dates with the princes, but now might be the right time.

"So how've you been?" you asked.

Jungkook rested his chin on the palm of his hand in thought.

"Good.." he began to speak. "But lonely without you here," he cheekily smiled. You smiled again. You were never able to stop smiling while speaking to Jungkook. "Then I'll be in the castle for often for you then," you lightly grinned at him. Jungkook chuckled and smiled at the same time. Your conversation was interrupted when:

"E-Enemies your majesty! In the castle.." a guard spoke breathlessly while running to you and Jungkook. You looked at each other and took the guard with you both, running downstairs. Your eyes widened seeing the war that was happening in the castle. Guards from the opposing side had infiltrated your home, attempting to kill everyone in their way. One of the guard's eyes landed on you. "The Prince/Princess! Kill them!" they shouted. All of their eyes landed on you and they started making a run for you. Jungkook grasped onto your and the guard's hand and took off. All three of you made it downstairs, almost breathless by the time you got down. Enemies were still chasing both of you. But you had hit a problem. There was nowhere else to run, you were all cornered. A guard was about to grab you, but Jungkook swiped his hand off. "Seize the butler, and take the Prince/Princess!" one of the guards commanded. Jungkook stood in front of you and the other guard to protect you, and shut his eyes closed.

"Get away from them!" you heard someone yell. They jumped in front of you and swang his sword to chase away the guards. "Yoongi?" you whispered. He turned around and softened his gaze. "You three alright?" he asked. You all nodded. "Watch out!" Jungkook panickingly yelled. Yoongi turned around to see a guard charging at him, but his reflex reacted too late. Then someone leaped in front of Yoongi and deflected the guard's attack.

Hoseok threw back the guard's sword, leaving him armless. "Thank goodness you're all alright," he smiled. You looked around. "Where's Jimin and Taehyung?" you asked. "They went into the forest to help fend off the others," Yoongi answered. Your eyes widened. "I- I have to go," you said. Hoseok shook his head. "It's dangerous out there, what if you-"

"It'll be fine," Jungkook stepped in. "I'll go with Y/N, and I assure you I'll keep Y/N safe." Hoseok and Yoongi hesitated, but finally gave in. "Fine, but you better make sure no one lays a hand on Y/N," Hoseok firmly expressed the 'no one'. Jungkook nodded, and grabbed your hand. "Let's go," he said. You nod back, and he lead you out the castle.

Time skip

You could see people fighting from afar, keeping close to Jungkook. This time, he was armed with a sword. He'd undergone a bit of training, enough to keep you safe. Your eyes landed on Jimin and Taehyung, fighting side by side. You watched, while Jungkook protectively stood in front of you. You then notice a guard sneaking up behind Jimin, but Taehyung was too busy fending off other people to realise. You couldn't just stand there, so you began walking to him, which then transformed into running steps. "JIMIN!" you shouted at the top of your lungs. Doing so, you pushed down the guard who attempted to attack Jimin. "Y/N what are you doing here-"

You took the sword from the guard.

"I'm helping."

Jungkook and Jimin's eyes widened hearing your words. "Fine, but I'm still protecting you," Jungkook grinned. "So will I," Jimin chorused. You didn't think they'd give in, but they did. All four of you fended off the guards, and you all did a pretty good job. It wasn't your typical type of bonding, but it definitely brought you all closer together. You then came across a guard who wouldn't stop attacking you. You did well defending yourself at first, but something must have sparked in him, because he suddenly got stronger than before. In reflex, you flinched at his attacks, giving him time to throw your sword at of your hands. You stumbled back. You looked around and only saw Jungkook, Jimin ran somewhere else to fend off enemies. Jungkook noticed your state and jumped in front of you. But since Jungkook was still a rookie at combat, his sword also got batted away. Leaving you both armless. You gripped onto Jungkook's blazer in fear, and Jungkook threw his hands in front of his face helplessly when the guard readied his sword.

You then realised Jungkook hadn't been attacked at all. You saw a figure standing in front of both of you. "Taehyung-"

"What are you doing out here?" he asked.

You could tell by the tone of his voice that he was kind of mad, but worried at the same time.

"I'm sorry I just-"

"Lets discuss this later," he stated.

Out of the corner of your eye you saw Namjoon, your father. You turn around to face him when your movements suddenly freeze. Jungkook's eyes widen and Taehyung's breathing began to become shaky. Namjoon collapsed onto the floor, arrow speared through his body, and blood trickling down his chest.

You ran to his motionless body while Taehyung went to finish off the other guards. "N-No." Tears began to steam down your cheeks. Jungkook kneeled down next to you, eyes watery. Taehyung walked over to the two of you, looking over at your father's body. "I-I'm sorry," he suddenly blurted out. You look at him. "Why?" you asked, almost choking on your tears. He looked down at the floor with a look of shame.

"I couldn't protect him."
