The Alley Way

The day starts out as the rest usually does: my Grandmother wakes me up and I get ready. I head downstairs for breakfast and spot Mrs. Conway sitting at the kitchen table eating eggs.

“Good morning,” I greet her.

“Good morning.” Mrs. Conway replies.

“Kimberly,” I turn and see my Grandmother with her purse in one hand and her keys in the other, “change of plans for today. I am taking Mrs. Conway to the police station to start searching for Tempest, and then we are going to go from door to door all over town to see if anyone has seen Tempest at all. My point is that you have to walk to school today, and if you want me to make a phone call real quick to have someone walk with you, I can.”

“No Grandma, I am fine. Really, you guys can go ahead, I’ll be fine. The school is less than a mile away, and I could use the exercise.”

“Okay,” my Grandmother leans in and kisses me on the forehead, “then we better go ahead and get going, and please don’t be late for school.”

“I won’t” I say, and watch as Mrs. Conway and my Grandmother walk out the door. I wave and then, start to walk to school. School, I think, it’s the only typical thing I have left. I hope they find Tempest! She was, I mean is my best friend!

I keep walking when I suddenly feel a person bump into me, and they didn’t even stop and say sorry. I brush myself off, and look back up in front of me and see a person with blazing red hair continuing to run. It can’t be, can it? I thought. “Tempest!” I yell at the top of me lungs, and start to run. I keep yelling and running, until the person turns the corner and down a dark alley. I slow down once I reach the alley debating whether or not to go down the alley. I decide to take the chance that it may be Tempest, I start to walk down the alley. I strain my eyes to try and see the red haired girl, and continue to walk. I finally reached the end of the alley which is blocked off by a metal fence. Out of anger and frustration I punch the fence. Hard! “Tempest!” I scream and begin to cry leaning on the fence.

“Kimberly!”

I whip my head around, and I see standing there in the alley, the red haired girl, my best friend, Tempest! “Tempest, I am so glad to see you! Your mom has been so worried! You need to come back home to your mother! She will be so happy to see you!” I give her a hug, but she doesn’t hug me back, but is extremely tense.

“Kimberly, I can’t! My duties are to my master, and he needs you” says Tempest.

“Haha, you got me! Now we need to go home!”

“NO! Kimberly, he needs you! Come with me and you can meet my master.” What master? Who is he? Why does he need me?

“Why don’t you come with me?!” I exclaim as I start to slowly walk away feeling weary.

“Come with me and meet my master.”

“NO!” I scream, and smack Tempest across the face.

“That was a big mistake,” says Tempest as she snaps her fingers, and two darkened figures appeared with blazing red eyes.

“Tempest what’s going on?” I ask worriedly looking at the two black figures. I keep walking backward, when I suddenly feel the metal fence against my back. Suddenly, two swords which look as if they were made of black sand appear at each of the figures sides. “Now don’t kill her just teach her a lesson, and make sure to capture her so we can take her back to Master Cross, he has been anxious to see her!” orders Tempest to the figures.

The figures come rushing towards me, I freeze in panic and fear. I look around trying to find anything that could be helpful, but there is nothing. I start to climb the metal fence as fast as I can. I suddenly feel sharp pain across my left calf and then my right. I could feel the pain throughout my body. I let go of the fence and fall to the ground landing on my legs, which give in and I am laying down in the dark alley. I start to breathe heavily. I try to get up, but the pain was too much to bear. Suddenly, I hear cries of pain that aren’t from me, but from the spirits. I turn to look at them, and see a brown hair boy taller than me slash the black figures with his white as snow sword. One figure was gone, disappearing to thin air. He keeps fighting the last one off gracefully as if he was a natural. Finally, with a last deafening scream, the second figure does the same as the first.

The brown haired boy turns around and sees me. My eyesight becomes blurry. He walks over to me, bends over, and picks me up in his arms. I look up at the boy who has me in his arms, trying to figure out who it is. I focus on the face, the brown hair, and chocolate brown eyes. The boy looked down at me and smiles. I know that face, those eyes, and that smile… its ANDREW! My heavy eyes then fully close.
