It felt intense being back at hogwarts, times were changing and it could be felt even in the air. Sirius Black was out of Azkaban and the ministry was doing its best to ignore the ever present danger of you know who. Even the teachers meeting Dumbledore held before the feast felt strange, although she imagined it was partially due to the outward disgust Snape shared when Albus had mentioned Lupin coming in to be the Defense professor.

"Miss Grey...." Dumbledore paused "a word please"

"Yes professor" she shyly spoke up, she felt a little out of place given she wasn't a teacher

"I know you're probably wondering why you're here given you aren't a teacher" Dumbledore nodded towards her "I'd just like to introduce you to everyone, this....is Miss Addilyn Grey, she was a student here and she's been gracious enough to lend us her skills to help Madame Pomfrey in the hospital wing"

Addi didn't miss the way Lupins eyes shot up at the mention of Dumbledores' words. She's fairly certain he doesn't remember her yet. She was a quiet ravenclaw girl with a small crush on the boy in school but she doubt he ever noticed her. Snape however made the connection fairly quickly given the look on his face, and she hoped he remembered how big of an ass hat he was to her in school. She surely didn't forget.

"Hello everyone...good to see some of your faces again" she smiled at Mcgonagall. Even if she wasn't the head of Addis house she always admired her. She knew she probably shouldn't have emphasized the "some" of her sentences but after all, she wanted Snape to know she didn't forget him and she also didn't forget she was now working with a known death eater in her presence regardless of how Dumbledore felt for the man she was still weary given their history.

"Miss Grey I know it's been awhile since you've been updated on any hogwarts news but with the dark times ahead we've noticed an uprising in situations the children have been put it, it's especially hard on Pomfrey who's trying to do this work alone so we appreciate the help" Dumbledore looked around as if to let everyone know they should appreciate the help. He continued on "I'd especially like you to introduce yourself to Mr. Potter and his friends if you could, he seems to need medical attention every school year. Professor Lupin perhaps you could show her to him after the feast"

Remus smiled and waved a small hello as if to introduce himself "of course Professor, just find me after the feast Miss Grey"

As everyone began to file out of Dumbledores office and head toward the great hall she followed behind and quietly spoke up

"You can call me Addi" and she spoke so softly she figured no one noticed but Remus turned around and gave her a small smile

Sitting at the table with the other teachers seemed almost more intimidating than her first year at hogwarts, as everyone flooded in and sat at their respected tables she watched as Mcgonagall brought in the first years. All looking rather nervous as they awaited their sorting ceremony. She recalled her first year and remembered just how nervous everyone around her looked and she could tell almost immediately who the "pure blood" children were. The only ones who never looked nervous about sorting because they knew slytherin was their destiny. More often than not the hat would call out the house before even being placed firmly on their head.

As Dumbledore gave his grand speech that somehow got more elaborate each year she did more searching through the tables. Sometimes she wished the hall was set up differently, perhaps children could set where they wanted. She always felt that would help with the great house divide but she felt that was probably her Hufflepuff side talking, the sorting hat went back and fourth between the two houses for a good while before placing her.

She found Potter fairly easy, even though she hadn't spoken to the boy before she knew his parents well enough to spot him in a crowd. Surrounded by weasleys of course and a beautiful girl with curly hair that addi found herself quite jealous of. Dumbledore announced her and lupins arrival to the children and then the feast began, hogwarts food would always beat the hospital food she was use to. Even if it wasn't a muggle hospital it still wasn't the best.

After the feast had started to die down Lupin approached her and asked if she was ready to meet Harry

Quickly responding she pointed in his direction and said "that's him right?"

Lupin quite shocked said "yes actually, how did you know?"

"A good mixture of James and Lilly both wouldn't you say"

And before he could question how she knew that she had already started towards the boy and his friends.

"Hi Mr. Potter" she stuck her hand out to shake his "I'm Miss Grey, I'm going to be helping Madame Pomfrey in the hospital wing. Dumbledore thought it best I make myself acquainted with you. Seems you tend to find yourself in the hospital wing often during the school year" she laughed.

"Bloody hell is that we're known for now?" The Weasley boy spoke, the curly haired girl smacked him gently

"Ronald please" she stuck her hand out to shake Addis "Hermione Granger miss"

Addi smiled and nodded towards the girl but before she could speak Harry finally spoke up..

"Hello Miss Grey, it's a pleasure to meet you but honestly I'd love it if I could manage not to make my way down to see you this year, no offense"

Addi laughed at the statement but before she could reply she felt Lupin approach them all, as they all nodded their hellos to the professor and began to walk away Lupin finally spoke up

"How did you know he was James and Lilly's before I introduced you?"

Harry turned around quickly at the statement "you knew my parents too?"

Addi imaged that since Harry was quite little when his parents had sadly passed that he enjoyed moments when he found people who knew his parents. Knowing them through the memories of others had to be better than not knowing them at all.

"Not as well as others here at the school but yes I did" Addi looked around and laughed "actually your father may have not even knew my name. I was a bit younger than him but one day after a positions class I had been caught alone by a few slytherin boys, they had ripped a book my mother had sent me out of my hands and started calling me awful things because it was muggle literature from my muggle mother. Your father and one of his friends rounded the corner right as the worst of it began, as his friend pulled me from the middle of the crowd and tried to console me Lilly found her way over to ask what happened. When she found out they stole my book she was rather upset, which your father did not take to kindly too. He and Lilly took care of those boys and told them never to mess with me again."

Harry smiled at the story, while James Potter was always a handful he was never one to let someone get picked on because of their blood status.

"Thank you Miss Grey, I always love stories about them" Harry smiled and walked off with his friends and Addi watched as the gears in lupins head turned until everything clicked. Addis smile must have grown three sizes when he realized he was the friend who consoled her and chuckled to himself.

She put her hand on his arm to get his attention and he looked down at her, with a slight bit of bravery she said "I never got to say thank you ya know? Even if it had no note I figured the copy of the book they ruined sat at my lunch table had to be from you" she would fail to mention she still kept the tethered book with her and even had it with her in her things upstairs.

She started to walk away from him when he finally spoke up "well no one should ruin a Fitzgerald book"

While Addi didn't turn around to look at him she couldn't wipe the large smile from her face.

A/N I know this chapter is kind of longer but I needed it for backstory and I didn't know how to break it up. (:
