Today is the day. Today is the day you finally get to go home after a week and a half in the hospital.
The day after the team came to visit you had to start PT which you were more than grateful to begin. You hated being stuck in the bed and not being allowed to roam the halls or even just walk yourself to the bathroom, you felt like an old woman. Just as you were packing the last of your toiletries into your go bag, Hotch, Emily and the doctor came in with the discharge forms.

"Hey Y/N, the doc has the forms for you." Emily said with a smile as she walked over and grabbed your bag, slinging it over her shoulder.

"Awesome, I can't wait to get out of here, no offence doc." You chuckled taking the pen and papers from the doctor before scribbling your name on the signing line.

"I would advise someone to stay with you for the next day or so, Miss Y/L/N. Just to keep an eye and help you out once the pain meds wear off, you'll be in some amount of discomfort." The doctor reveals.

You look between Emily and Hotch who are both staring at you waiting for one to be picked. Before you can make the decision Hotch speaks up.

"I'll stay with her, if that's okay with you Y/N. I mean, I was the one who made you go undercover after all."

Emily eyes you, a smirk playing on her lips as she shrugs her shoulders and walks out the door talking to the doctor about something you couldn't quite hear.

"Yeah sure, if you're certain you have nowhere else to be Hotch?" You ask looking at the floor, you don't know why, but you felt so nervous in this very moment.

You were still looking at the floor when all of a sudden Hotch's feet came into your view. You glanced up to see he was standing extremely close to your face, his soft brown eyes meeting yours. You could feel his breath on your skin as he spoke.

"I definitely have nowhere else to be," he said with a coy smile tugging at the corner of his lips, "besides, it means we can finally have that talk."

You were staring longingly into each others eyes, you could see an emotion flash across his face but you couldn't quite place it. Hotch started to lean in closer to your face, you closed your eyes in anticipation waiting for him to kiss you. Just as your lips were about to meet, Emily let out a cough standing in the doorway. Hotch spun on his heels, grabbing your bag and walking you to the wheelchair to take you home. As you sat in the chair, you glanced up at Emily who was still staring at you with a smirk laid across her face. You rolled your eyes at her but you couldn't help the blush on your cheeks. As Hotch was rolling you out past her, she leant down beside your ear to whisper so that only you could hear.

"We'll talk about that later." She whispered with a wink before Hotch rolled you on past her and down the hall to the elevator.

You made it to the bottom floor and Hotch was pushing you towards the exit. You hated the fact you had to sit in a wheelchair, you'd much rather walk out with what dignity you had left, but you knew it was hospital policy to be escorted out via wheelchair. Once you reached the hospital doors, you stood from the chair and winced slightly from the pain that shot through your abdomen.  Hotch saw you wince and instantly moved to be at your side, his arm snaking around you waist to hold you upright as he helped you to his car. You happily let him hold you and rested your head on his shoulder as you walked toward the passenger side of the SUV. Once in the SUV, Hotch buckled your seatbelt to which you let out a giggle.

"I can buckle my own seatbelt Hotch, I'm not a child." You smiled as you looked up into his eyes.

He smiled back as he continued to buckle you in anyway, when he finished he pecked your cheek before closing the door and walking round to his side of the car. You couldn't help but blush when he kissed your cheek, you felt butterflies in your stomach and you hadn't felt those in forever.

When Hotch entered the SUV, he looked over at you and could see the blush on your cheeks. He smirked to himself before starting the car and pulling out of the parking lot. His hand instantly found its way to your thigh where it rested for the remainder of the journey to Hotch's house. It felt nice, having his hand on you, and not in a weird way. It felt like he had been doing it forever and it was just habit now. Although you both knew this was new and you were almost afraid to react incase it scared him off, so instead you just stared out of your window watching the trees and cars pass by until you eventually pulled into Hotch's driveway. You weren't paying much attention as to where you were and eventually got pulled out of your thoughts when Hotch spoke.

"Y/N, we're home. Do you need help getting out?" He said as he looked over the centre console and stared longingly into your eyes.

You shook your head at his question and unbuckled yourself before stepping out of the car carefully. You couldn't help but replay the words "we're home" over and over again in your head. Home is where the heart is as they say. Before long, you were through the front door and laying on the couch while Hotch made you both some coffee before joining you.

Was this what the next week or so was going to be like? Because if it was, you could easily get used to it.
