The missing.

The Big Game

It was a sunny and warm day. A perfect day for soccer. Today was the big tournament day which meant that I had to be alert as ever. I and my teammates were warming up on the field before the game. I saw Charlotte walk over and sit in her usual bench spot. She waved at me and I waved back. My friend Charlie came over and he asked "So you going to the party tonight?" I say "If it means I can bring Charlotte cause I'm supposed to be watching her". Charlie says " You know that's not a problem Dude your sister is welcome anytime". I say "Thanks Charlie that means a lot". He says "It's no problem man". 

Just then the coach blows the whistle which means that it is time for the game to start. We were versing our longtime rivals, the Hawks. Our Coach started his pre-game pep talk. He says "Alright boys, we all know that this is a big game for the team so you've just got to get out there and do your thing." We then all put our hands in the middle and fall out. I am playing offense which is what I play best. The Hawks have the ball. I watch as one of their players' winds back and kicks the ball as the whistle is blown. The guy is a huge way bigger than I am. I watch as the guy zooms past me as I attempt to stop him but he just knocks me over. I get back up just in time to see the guy boot the ball. I watch as it soars through the air and collides with something. I watch the object fall and hit the ground. I run over as the referee blows the whistle. 

As I get closer that is when I realize what the ball collided with. Charlotte. I start running for her yelling "Charlotte!!" But I am stopped by Charlie who says" Caleb calm down she will be fine". I then say "Where are they taking her". He says "Probably to the medical area". "Don't worry man she will be fine they will take good care of her". He then runs back to position and I reluctantly do the same. The game goes by normally. We are down by 1 goal with only a minute to go. The ref blows the whistle and Charlie gets the ball. He sees that I am open and yells "Take it Caleb!!" And kicks it to me. I then sprint down the field and am about to score when a vision of Charlotte pops into my head and distracts me causing me to miss the goal and make us lose. 

I stand there, bewildered. How could I have missed that shot? It was the easiest shot in the world!!. And my team is not happy either. I hear the announcer say "And Campbell misses the game-winning shot meaning that the Blue Jays do not advance to the championships" "What a letdown". I angrily walk off the field as the crowd is booing. When I get over there I am immediately swarmed with anger threats and even punched by some people. When I get to my locker Charlie walks over and slams my door shut. He yells at me What was that for Jerk!" I am shocked at what he just said I have never seen him so mad at me before. I then say "I got distracted I'm sorry". He then Yells "Well Sorry isn't enough you had an easy goal and you screwed it up!" I then yell "Well what else do you want from me a handwritten letter admitting that I screwed up!"

I then yell " I thought you were supposed to be my friend but instead you are just making me feel worse!" He then says "We aren't friends Caleb who would want to be friends with a loser like you who ruins everything". And then he walks away. My coach then walks over and says Caleb I expected better from you but instead you just let us all down". He then says "You are off the team until further notice". I am crushed. Soccer was my favorite thing to do without it I was nothing. I grabbed my stuff out of my locker and stormed out of the locker room. I ran out into the already forming mobs of angry fans. I squeeze my way through and then I start looking for Charlotte. I yell "Charlotte!" I look around trying to find her.

I eventually see the medical area in the distance. I start walking to it but I don't get very far because I am grabbed by the shoulder by a big man. I say "What the?" But he then says "I wouldn't say anything if I were you Caleb". I then say "Who are you and where are you taking me". He then says " None of that matters right now, what matters is your cooperation". I say "Or what?" He then says " Or your sister dies that's what" He leads me to a bathroom and locks the door. He then says "Now you will cooperate won't you?" "Yes I say shakily". He then says "Good" So I assume that means that you will let us do what we are about to do to you right". I then say "Wait do what?" But just then I am grabbed from behind and injected with something. My vision then becomes blurry and my legs feel like jelly. And the last thing I think is I am so screwed right now.
