Chapter 9: Iris

it was quiet, yet it was deafening. Cammy cried herself to sleep on me, I'm awake with thoughts. how didn't i notice? I'm her mate for fucks sake! Cammy was asleep, i was with Nes, how did i miss it?

"Alpha? Luna Nessy is stable and requesting to talk to you."

I nod and pick up Cam bridal style, she'll sleep better with both of us near. I walk in, Nes is staring out the window still pale, i set Cam on the couch and pull up a chair to Nes' bed, taking her hand in mine.

"Nes...?"

she sniffles and looks at her lap, "I'm sorry Iris."

I scoot her over and sit beside her, pulling her close. she colapses into me and cries quietly, trying not to wake Cam. I rub her back and keep her flush against me, my eyes watering.

"did you know?" I whisper

she sniffles and shakes her head. I rub her head and whisper sweet words in her ear. our eyes are closed and we're just holding each other.

a small gasps comes from the corner of the room. we look over and cam is holding nessys chart.

"...this is why you didn't want me back... you already have a family with Ness... with your Ness..." she drops the clipboard and runs out the hospital room, hot tears running down her face. nes goes to get up but i stop her and run after cam.

"cam wait!"

she stops and only then did i realize i used my alpha voice. i walk up to her and pull her to me.

"neither of us knew. you were the only thing we were worried about."

she cries harder. i pick her up bridal style and take her back to nessy's room.

cam lifts her head and says smiling, "so now we pick out baby names"
