The clock was ready to ring twelve in a sector of their colonized soil, but none were
truly ready. No diplomat, scientist nor humanitarian was sincerely prepared for what came
at that fateful tick. No amount of intelligence or faith shed a light of knowledge on the
following omnipotent events. They had discussed and planned for nothing to happen and they
even tried to prove it. Their factory's still produced, their young still born and their
opium still smoked. Humanity shed no humility for the bygone predictions of their
ancestors - a generation of technology only ridiculed the apparent non-sensibility of
their blood and gene brothers.
And when the last ominous ticker ticked in the sapiens ear, it was all to late; no messiah
had come. No country had fired a blast of full-throttle power nor had any religious
struggle taken a broad step by terrorizing his fellow man. Humanity played no part
in prevention or encouragement of their own demise. They had not screamed and pleaded for mercy - for they couldn't. They disappeared, without a trace, into thin air. Their factory's had come to a halt, their young had absconded with them, and their intoxicating dependences had dropped and split all over the floor.
And now, in the center of the a city a public place of excitement and viewing-pleasure was
rumbling, shouts shrieked and rung throughout the place. These shouts stayed behind bars,
entrapped and placed on show by their former captors. Institutionalized - they will now surely
die. And so would mans best friend, and all the little hamsters in their little cages. For
they were gone, but their mark still remained.
In lands that escaped this destructive mark of man rivers still flowed and sand was still
golden. But the soil was not the same, plagued by toxins and fertilizer. The higher-power
that created and took man away was not judging the power of man, for this was all too
obvious. The not-so-plentiful earth was no longer rich and bountiful with fields of food,
oil wells replaced in their wake.
This higher power looked upon the earth for the last time and returnt man and they were unaware of their absence, the end of the world had already ensued. Nothing could be done.
And in the homes and the citys the absed animals thankfully greeted their absolutist masters.
