I was getting ready for my new trial. I put on a collar shirt and a tie, I was nervous and my hands were shaking so it was hard to get the collar shirts buttons closed. I had black pants with a belt and the guards led me to the place where I had to go.

I had a new trial, because my case got reopened. Thanks to all the people who believed in me and fought for this to happen.

I was sitting in the same chair, I was three years ago. My lawyer was Layla Henrickson this time and I saw from her eyes that she wanted to win this case. I was nervous and I was playing with my fingers. Did I get out sooner or did I have to stay in that shithole for two more years. The defences were in their room, where they were talking about my case and talking about their opinions. I turned around and I was looking at my parents and I noticed that I had opened my cuticles on my thumb and from my middle finger. My lawyer was sitting next to me and noticed it so she decided to tell me a joke, so I could calm down and think about something else. I smiled and relieved a little bit.

-If I cant get out sooner, I'm going to be in prison for two more years. Right? I whispered on my lawyers ear.

-Yes. But I got a good feeling about this. She smiled.

-You have a daughter right? She asked. She was obviously trying to make me think about something else.

-Thats correct. Emily. I smiled.

-Adorable name. How old is she? she asked.

-She's turning five. I smiled and looked at my girlfriend and my baby girl.

-Okay, Mason. Here they come. she said.

I felt naseous, because I really wanted to get out sooner. I couldnt take it anymore in there, my mental health was getting really bad. It was hard to breathe and I was breathing really fast, because I was anxious. My eyes started to fill with tears when the judge started to talk.

I put my hand over my mouth so I wouldnt make any noise, but it was hard when i was so anxious and uncomfortable. My lawyer patted me on my back and said that its going well.

-will the foreperson of the jury please stand. The jugde said.

-have you reached a verdict upon which you all are agreed? She asked.

-Please answer yes or no. she said.

-Yes. he answered.

-in respective count 1 the allegation of aggravated assault, how do you find the defendant guilty or not guilty? someone asked.

-not guilty. he said.

I was in shock. Was this really happening, am I about to get out. "What" I said quietly.

-In respective count 2, the allegation of aggravated assault, how do you find the defendant guilty or not guilty?

-Not guilty.He said.

My face lightend up. There was tears on my cheeks and my lawyer kept telling me "You got this, you're getting out."

-In respective count 3 the allegation of aggravated assault, how do you find the defendant guilty or not guilty?

-Not guilty. He said.

-In respective count 4, the allegation of aggravated assault, how do you find the defendant guilty or not guilty?

-Not guilty. He said.

I gasped. Tears were falling from my eyes and I put my head down by the table.

-Mason Smith. The defedants have found you not guilty on aggravated assault. I will be giving you a lower prison sentence. Your prison sentence will be reduced by two years, but you are still on parole. The judge said.
