What They Don't Know

I woke up grudgingly trying to figure out where I was. I turned on my side and saw white twin beds lining the room. I bolted up ignoring the sharp agonizing pain in my side. I looked across to the other side of the room, and I saw an unconcious body in another bed. I was about to get up and check on them, but I then saw some sort of forcefield separating us... Why? I decided not to think about it anyway so I looked around again. I was in some sort of infirmary place...

"Wait where am I?" I thought.

"Looks like someone is awake..." A young male's voice echoed. My eyes shot towards him.

"Who is he? He looked familiar though..." I grimaced, I couldn't remember anything.

"Ever! Always the observant type. Eh?" He gave me a princely grin.

"Ever. My name. That's somewhere to start." I sighed.

"Evs, you okay? You seem a bit... confused." He frowned coming near my upright body.

"Psh! Yea I'm great, no I feel wonderful! I just can't remember anything, but that's no big deal right!?" I widened my eyes sarcastically.

"OH there's my Ever! Always sarcastic one! Hmm, maybe you hit your head a little too hard... You're not joking with me right? Cuz saying you can't remember anything is definitely something you shouldn't be happy about... but in your case, maybe this is a good thing..." He looked truly concered.

"Losing my memory is a GOOD thing? Now I'm starting to think YOU'RE the one that hit your head too hard!" I yelled exasperated.

"Oh no. Ash please do not traumatize the poor girl, she's gone through enough already." A man slightly older than middle age with a beard said, glancing sideways at the other body.

"Oh thank god! Someone with sense!" I snarled, glaring at Ash.

"Precision of language Gods with an S" The man raised an eyebrow at me.

"Right... like there are actually Gods. Good one!" i laughed half heartedly.

"Wait... do you not remember anything? Last night was very eventful, and yet you don't have a clue what happened!?"

"Uh- no..." I shifted in the bed uncomfortably.

"Maybe I should show her the damage she's caused. Then it might come back to her." Ash said directed to the man.

"Hm... that sounds good to me. Just remember not to miss lunch. I don't care how much attention she will get, you have to get your energy." The man lectured.

"Yes mother," He looked at me, "Next thing you know, Chiron will be making little heart shaped sandwhiches to me!"

"Here we are! The Forest!" Ash said a little too excitedly, "Do you really not remember anything? You've seen at least half of the Institution."I didn't reply.

"Maybe this will help," he said, motioning me into the forest. We walked quite a while until we reached the center tower.

"What am I supposed to be looking at?" I asked confused.

"Go to the other side of the tower... You'll see." I stepped cautiously around to the opposite side and I saw a vast clearing of nothing but land in the shape of a circle, about five acres in diameter. In the middle of the circle was a huge black scorch mark on the ground. In the circle, there wasn't a single tree to be seen. Everything had been pushed away from a massive force. Outside the circle, there were trees piling on top of each other , probably the remains of the inner circle trees. Then I noticed something peculiar, there were about fifteen teenagers scattered around the forest attempting to grow the trees back.

"This is relevant because?" I asked.

"I admit, I sounded a bit too selfish."

"Your joking right!? YOU did this!" He yelled, pulling the tree-people's eyes towards us. Suddenly a shower of dread washed over me. I remember it. I remember it all... And I wish I didn't.

"I did this. I did this. I did this..." I Chanted as if Ina mantra.

"I have to leave. I can't stay here. I'm dangerous. I don't belong. Please Ash." I pleaded.

He walked closer to me then embraced me in a hug, I let him get close, "I know Ever, but you can't. This is the safest place for you."

"If this is the safest place, then why are people hurting because of me?" I asked burying my face deeper in his shoulder.

"That I don't know." He sighed looking down at me.

Whispers. It's all I could hear. Just like yesterday. "Who is she?" "How is she so powerful?" "What it she?" But this time the whispers were more hesitant, scared, cautious. Like they were afriad I would hurt them. But it ALL wasn't as bad as the malicious looks I would get from Skai. She truly hated me, and I didn't know why. Why was she so scared? I hated myself for it. I hurt people. I need to leave this place, and inconveniently Ash won't help me do it. So I decided to go to the man who had the most sense in this place.

I was about to knock on the wooden door when I heard distant voices inside the room. Being the nosey, curious girl I am, I decided to take a peak. The office looked exactly like I did before, but this time, instead of there being bookshelfs lining the back wall, there was what looked like another room... a throne room, with twelve very godly looking people sitting in a semicircle on their thrones. Chiron was standing in his centaur form in the middle of the half circle, seeming to be telling the Gods something. To keep myself from being seen, I tucked myself behind another bookshelf, peaking at the conversation.

"What do you want Chiron? This better be important, if you wanted us ALL here," A rather annoyed looking man, with a white beard and a... British accent? The man was sitting in the center largest throne with a larger-than-life lightning bolt in one hand and his wifes hand in the other. I'm guessing that was Zeus, the king of the gods, and the sky god... Skai's father.

"I need to tell you a very vital piece of information..." he paused, glancing at what looked like Posideion.

"Get on with it."a stern looking woman with olive hair and a tight face, Hera said. She was clothed in Peacock feather colored robes and had a thick Greek accent.

"A fourteen year old demi-god girl of ours is causing some havoc at the Institution."

"This is our problem becuase? Control her for Gods sake! I have better things to do than listen to your complains." Ares grumbled wearing a leather bikers outfit with a New Jersey accent.

"The problem is, she's not a normal demi-god..."

"Oh my gods he's talking about me!"

"What do you mean?" Hesita asked, looking up from the hearth. She wore simple brown garments and her voice was strangely a different accent at every word, as if she was everywhere.

"What is with all these accents? Maybe I'll ask them one day."

"She's unnaturally powerful. More powerful than all the others. She's hurt Skai, your daughter, twice. She can easily control water without a sweat. Speaking about her power... It seems as if it has no boundaries, she can do anything." Chiron spoke all in one breath.

"I heard water... She's not my daughter though. I don't remember her." Poseidon spoke up. He was clothed in casual short khakis and a flowery t-shirt, he also had a California accent. Everyone seemed to become unnerved when they heard that.

"If she's not your daughter... Who's daughter is she?" Athena inquired, with her thick German accent.

"If the Gods themselves don't know what I am... then who does?" I thought, all traces of leaving dissapated.
