We always moved to different places. Ana and I. I didn't know my parents, I always lived with Ana, who was a mother for me.
I had a quite interesting name, Dolly Pop, and people were often mocking me, and making jokes about my name. This is why we moved so much. Ana did care about my social life, and so when I couldn't fit in somewhere, for a reason that was not on me, we simply packed up and left the place. It might sound like we were running away from problems, but we gave a whole year of chances to each place, and sometimes even more, when things started to settle.
This was no different with the last place, but my classmates were just jerks who couldn't change.
This house was a little different that the others we lived in previously. First of all, it was a house, not an apartment. Since our family was only Ana and I, we mostly lived in apartments, but this time, we moved into a small house.
It had tan walls, from the outside, and a darker brown roof. It looked peaceful, and calm, which made me feel home instantly.
On the inside it was just like a normal house. White walls, brown floor and empty rooms. It had one floor, but two bathrooms, both connected to a bedroom. The house had the two bathrooms and bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and a dining room.
I went straight to my room and started packing out when we arrived. I than went to have a shower, and continued packing out for a while before dinner.
"Dolly, come to the dining room, dinner's ready!" Ana yelled from the kitchen. We ate together and often watched movies before going to sleep, and it didn't change when moving from a place to another.
This day, we had a quick dinner and went straight to bed because both of us were really tired after the long journey. The next day was my first day of school. I woke up at seven am and got ready for eight. At this time of the day everything took longer, so it was a good half an hour for Ana to get me to the school by car.
I went into the classroom my class was at and right away I realised, not so many people got there on time. In fact, there were only about ten students, eleven with me, in the room.
"Hey!" I said quietly, stepping in the classroom. A girl saw me, and introduced herself quickly.
"I'm Meghan! Nice to meet you! Are you new?" I was so overwhelmed with how quick she talked, it took me a moment to answer.
"Uhm... Yes, I am new! It's nice to meet you too, I'm... Dolly."
"Oh, real great. We finally have someone in the class with an interesting name. If I'm not wrong, you are Dolly Pop, huh?" I didn't know how she knew my name, but I guessed the teachers announced I would come.
"Heh... Yes."
The class started soon after, and about ten minutes in the class, a girl knocked on the door.
"Oh, yes, Zoe, come in!" the teacher said.
"Obviously she doesn't make a scene if Zoe is late, she's the perfect girl, with almost no days missed, all homework done, great tests and not late most of the times." Meghan made me sit next to her, so she could "help" me, and I actually really appreciated that.
"The perfect Zoe, present before your eyes." And oh Lord, she was. She did look and behave perfect.
According to the sounds coming from both the girls and boys, Zoe was a very popular member of the class. Not even the teacher said a word about her being late, but non of her classmates reactions of her not arriving on time, dragged her attention, from getting in her seat and joining the class as best she could.
