After things started to settle around Meghan and Zoe, I felt a bit better. The party would start in an hour or so, when everybody in the class was already in party mood.
Everyone was setting up the "snack" table and someone brought speakers and started the music early. The teachers didn't really mind this, because there were parties that day anyways.
And the time finally arrived. The teachers came with cakes, pizzas, popcorn, drinks, and put on movies for people who didn't want to party that much. It was amazing.
Meghan and I were standing in front of the snack table drinking juice, while many others were dancing, including Zoe.
"I'm happy you don't hate us." Meghan said.
"I honestly can't afford to hate you." I shouted over the music. Meghan didn't seem to understand exactly what I meant, but she didn't ask about it. We just stood there watching the others for a while, and than Meghan suddenly started talking.
"Zoe wanted you to know about it, but she was too shy. There are only a few things she doesn't want you to know and this is the biggest one of them. But she WILL tell it to you. You just have to be patient." she said. I was confused. I didn't ask anything, and still she told me kind of much. I didn't understand why there were only a few things she didn't want to tell me, and I was even more confused why she told all if them to Meghan than. But I, just like Meghan did before, didn't ask anything. I didn't even had a chance, because something weird was about to happen.
Nate was beginning to walk slowly up to Zoe, with all the other guys staring at him, laughing. The girls and Lucy's group looked at them too, because it just looked weird, how Nate was performing a slow-mo scene and the boys were all laughing.
"Oh, oh..." Meghan said and she was right, I just didn't know it at the moment.
Nate continued to walk towards Zoe, and by than, Zoe realised it too. And than it happened.
"Khmm. We got the attention... Kind of." Nate said awkwardly.
"Yes, 'cause you were acting weird..." Zoe replied. This was the second, Lucy and her group decided that they weren't interested.
"So... What's up?" Nate asked.
"Could be better..." Zoe replied. Lucy now went up to another bunch of girls and whispered something. They started nodding really hard and turned around to discuss something. Apparently this was more interesting for the boys, than laughing at the weird scene, so they started talking too, and were staring at the girls' group. It was only Meghan and I, now, looking at Nate and Zoe.
"Better. They finally have something else to do..." Nate said. Zoe seemed to feel less uncomfortable, too.
"Well, yes. So what did you want?" she asked.
"Would you, by any chances, want to..."
"What!?" Zoe said impatiently.
"Would you want to date me!?" Nate said suddenly, louder than before, so everyone in the room could hear him.
Everyone froze, but they didn't look back at Nate and Zoe. They were just waiting quietly for the outcome.
"I... Uhm... I'm sorry. I... No..." Zoe said uncomfortable.
"I understand that... I do." Nate said, and left the classroom. Everyone remained quiet, no-one said a word.
Except of Meghan.
"That. Was. Bad."
