“This is a pretty simple supply mission. It should be in and out. I’ve given you all assignments already. Zeb and Sabine, you two get the supplies while Kanan stands watch on the roof of the nearest building. This way, he will see any danger on the streets around you. Everyone understand?” Hera asked, looking at each of them in turn. Her gaze lingered on their newest member, Sabine.

The thirteen-year-old girl had been with them for just over three months and was still adjusting to the crew. She was very reserved and liked her privacy. She had yet to open up about her time at the academy or as a bounty hunter. Hera had tried to get her to open up, but the young girl continued to evade her.

Kanan, seeing Hera’s gaze, put an arm on her shoulder and said, “Hera will be on call a few minutes away. We will be going on speeders so we can collect the supplies fast and bring them back to the ship. If I spot trouble, I will deal with it. Your job is to get the supplies onto the ship. If anything goes wrong, we call Hera and get out of there.”

“If…” Zeb said with a laugh. Sabine smiled at this. She had only been on a few missions so far, but she already knew that the crew had a habit of catching trouble. Sabine remembered the mission just two weeks ago where they had been rescuing some prisoners from an abandoned jail. The jail ended up being a fully functioning empire hideout. This was how she found out about Kanan’s abilities. Later, when she asked about them, he explained he was a Jedi. Hera had a talk with her about the history between the Jedi and Mandalorians. She had assured Sabine that Kanan wouldn’t hold their people’s past against her. Surprisingly, Sabine trusted this and decided that she would put her people’s past behind her and trust Kanan. Well, trust him as much as she trusted everyone else on the crew, which was still not much.

Kanan sighed at Zeb’s comment and ignored it. “We will leave as soon as Hera lands.”

“Which should be in about 10 minutes, so get ready. Chopper, come with me to scan the perimeter for a safe spot to land.” Chopper wizzed after Hera into the cockpit, “accidently” hitting Zeb’s leg on the way.

“Rustbucket,” Zeb muttered, rubbing his leg. Sabine laughed.

“You wouldn’t laugh if you were tormented by that droid, but he likes you for some reason,” Zeb argued, playfully. He liked his new “sister.” Though she was a little quiet at first, she was starting to open up.

“That’s because I don’t kick him around,” Sabine said, getting up to find her helmet. Zeb got up as well to get his bow rifle and help Kanan get the speeders ready.

Kanan, hearing the banter from his room, chuckled and grabbed the two parts of his lightsaber. As much as he hated to admit it, he knew Zeb was right about their missions always going wrong. He hoped he wouldn’t have to use the saber, but he wasn’t going to take any chances.

“You ready?” Kanan asked as he met Zeb in the hallway.

“Sure, boss.”

“Let’s get the speeders set up.” Kanan and Zeb started to get the speeders ready and warmed up. They only had two, so Sabine would have to ride with one of them. They felt the ship land and then Hera came in carrying their comlinks.

“Okay, Sabine and I put in the new program, so the comlinks shouldn’t malfunction anymore.”

“Thanks, Hera,” Kanan said as she distributed them.

“Now, everyone be careful! I don’t want to have to fix you all up. And it’s cold in this part of Lothal, especially later in the day, so please wear jackets.” Hera glared at Kanan in his short sleeve t-shirt. He sighed.

“Hera, Jedi don’t feel cold as much as the normal person.” She handed him a jacket and he put it on, knowing he would lose the battle. She rounded on Sabine next, who told her that she was wearing warm clothes under her armor and the armor kept out the cold. Hera didn’t need to worry about Zeb. His fur protected him in cold weather.

“We landed outside the city, it should take about 10 minutes to get there by speeder. Keep your head down in the city, you all still have a bounty on your heads.”

“Yes, since I met you guys, my bouncy has more than doubled,” Sabine said, shocked.

“Yes, yours is almost as high as mine, it’s unbelievable,” Zeb joked. Sabine punched him playfully on the arm. Seeing this made Hera smile. Sabine seemed to get along with Zeb the best, though she still had trouble trusting anyone.

“See you all in a bit,” Hera said, moving to the controls of the exit ramp.

Kanan mounted one of the speeders, Zeb the other with Sabine behind him. Hera opened the ramp and they were off.
