In for it

(Y/n) (L/n) wasn't anyone special. She came from a poor family in the Todoroki kingdom who had just enough money to get by.

While other girls her age learned advanced magic, or learned fencing, she only knew basic, mediocre spells.

She couldn't even hold a sword correctly.

But, the only reason for this was because she had to work a job to keep her family going. It was the only way they could have enough money to buy food for the week. Most people in their small area of the kingdom were the same. They didn't have much money, because of the king.

The day was a normal one for (Y/n). It was time to go to work. Of course, (Y/n) had found a nice job at the horse stables nearby. She liked animals, and the job payed nicely. Though, it wasn't the cleanest of jobs...

She put on her work clothes, and stepped out of the house. Her work boots, which were covered in mud and horse manure, sat outside at the door. She put them on, and headed for the stables. They weren't very far from her house, so the walk wasn't too long.

As she walked, (Y/n) couldn't help but rub her arms a bit. It was the middle of winter, and while no snow had fallen, it was still quite cold to the girl. She wished she had a thicker jacket, but alas, the warmest ones were the most expensive ones.

She continued her way down the road, before stopping at her workplace. The man that owned the stable smiled at her, through tired eyes. He pulled his long, dark hair back into a pony tail and—

Oh, it's Aizawa.

"You're late." He grunted, standing up and leaning on a nearby wall.

(Y/n) seemed confused. "Late? Are you sure? I could've sworn I left on time..." She lamented, sighing and looking down to her feet.

"By a minute. Much better than last time." Aizawa continued his sentence. Of course, he had to stretch things out. The man liked to give (Y/n) a hard time sometimes. She wasn't sure as to why. Maybe to challenge her? To make her work hard?

We'll never know.

"Go ahead and feed the horses. There are some droppings in the backs of a few stalls. Check 1... 4, 7, and 9." Aizawa ordered, pointing the girl in the direction of the food. "Oh... and feel free to give the horses treats. I may or may not have dozed off earlier."

(Y/n) proceeded to grab the bag of horse treats, and stuck it in her back pocket, as she went to retrieve the horse food. She went into each stall, and fed each horse, occasionally stepping in some poop.

She went back in every stall to clean it, get rid of any poop and such, before she came waddling out with a few buckets that needed to be emptied.

She stumbled a little, and ran into a hard chest. Luckly, none of the shit she was carrying fell, because when she looked up, she saw someone she never thought she'd meet in a million years.

There Prince Todoroki stood, and with a blank look on his face, he bent down to help the girl back to her feet.

"Are you alright?" He questioned, observing her attire and immediately assuming she worked here.

(Y/n) was internally panicking.

"Y...- Yes! I'm alright, your majesty." She stumbled over her words, just as she did over her feet, as she spoke to the prince. He gave her a nod, and continued on his way.

(Y/n) was seated in the back of the stables, where there was a small room for lounging. She had no clue Aizawa was going to be having royalty over...

Had she been caring for a royal horse all this time???

Perhaps.

Her shift had finally ended, and it was time for (Y/n) to go home. She quietly snuck out of the office, and shyly waved Aizawa a goodbye as she scurried off home.

It was getting dark, and colder.

(Y/n) had decided to pick up the pace so she wouldn't catch a cold. Her breath made fog appear in front of her as she speed-walked, and the beads of sweat starting to form on her forehead only made her even more cold.

When she got home, and changed into something a bit warmer, she realized there weren't enough blankets for her family.

She, of course, took it upon herself to go out with her own money to purchase at least one more, so her mother would not freeze.

(Y/n) entered a store, and was immediately met with the warmth of a fire. It was cozy in the store where they sold a plethora of warm things. She went to the area of the store where they sold blankets, and immediately started to dip her hands into the warm fluff.

She checked the price tag, hoping to be able to bring the warm fluff to her mother. It was far too expensive. All of the blankets they sold were.

This was the only store in her village that sold warm blankets... what was she to do?

It was that moment, when (Y/n) could only think of one thing.

She clutched the blanket to her chest, and started to walk out of the store with it. She had only stepped a foot outside of the door before the owner called after her.

"Thief! THIEF!!" He shouted. The frantic calling resulted in two things:

It caught the attention of the nearby prince, and it made our dear (Y/n) run for the hills.

The Prince's eyes followed the girl, and before he knew it, he was booking it after her. They were running downhill, so (Y/n) especially had to make sure she wouldn't trip.

It was only when she found herself caught in a dead end, she stopped.

However, she wasn't alone. The prince had caught up to her now.

"You... I saw you at the stables earlier. Why did you steal that?" He questioned, narrowing his eyes as he looked down at the poor girl.

In a moment of desperation, (Y/n) opened her mouth to shout the only three words she had bothered to memorize from her magic classes.

"Nunc Ianuae Magicae!"

In a puff of smoke, the two of them had disappeared, along with the warm blanket.

The spell was supposed to take (Y/n) home... but instead, both her and the Prince seemed to be in a large, tall, vast forest.

"Where are we..?" (Y/n) asked, as she looked at the dark sky.

The prince waited to answer, seeming to be observing his surroundings and lost in thought.

"You tell me."
