if you asked her why she was doing it, aria would very much blame kat and lia for making her sign up for karaoke at the rigidity bar they had walked in on sam's instruction.

aria stuck her tongue out at her friends as they cheered and clapped, gesturing for her walk up on the stage where at least forty people were watching, and waiting for her.

a slight shake quivered on her finger tips, and the rest of her hands were just a tad sweaty. she shuffled closer to where the dj was sitting, waiting for her to choose a song that she would perform.

her options were the one kat suggested, a song written by a younger actress that had played repeatedly on aria's ipod or one that was closely related to the fact that it was her birthday.

tom was watching her, a goofy grin on his lips as he whistled in encouragement. sat in the back with the rest of their little crew, he waved when he caught her watching him, winking playfully and settling back in his chair.

he had offered to come with her on stage or even to the front until she went on, but lia and kat had shooed him off, taking an arm each and marched her to the stage where they were now pushing her onto.

she decided pretty quickly after that.

"song choice?" the guy asks , his voice raised loud enough for her to hear.

"um," she gulped. "gross? by olivia rodrigo"

he raised his eyebrow in a questioning response, probably at the song title, but didn't argue. the man typed away at the ipad in his lap until he nodded his head at the microphone, gesturing for her to grab it.

she did, of course. but it took some courage she wasn't sure she had to hold up to her chin, just waiting for the music to began.

the intro music started first, a nice beat that got the crowd cheering. kat whistled and lia cheered, both of her closest friends at the foot of the stage, ready to catch her if she fell.

aria started clapping along to the beat, her anxiousness slowly easing. "not long ago when i saw you there with your brown eyed grin and your messy hair." she began singing , avoiding eye contact with the one person she knew would catch on the quickest. "and every girl at the party was looking at you"
