the week passed and the two friends mitch and anne had little to no interaction at school. for the outsider it may look like this one incident is all it took to overthrow their friendship but in reality the two were still friends but just decided to not interact at school for the sake of both parties' safety.

"hey bestie" luca slid over to sterre via the smooth ground. "wanna play super smash bros with me at my house after school?" sterre was told by luca on her first day at TAC that he was really good at ssb and that he would also most likely rub it in her face if he would win, in other words: a perfect foe to match sterre's own competitiveness. "i would like to join you and absolutely destroy you and your pride but sadly i can't go since i still have to work on my vulcano presentation with frank."
"with who ? you are doing a presentation with who ?" luca got ahold of both of her shoulders and shook her a bit roughly, he most likely did that for dramatic purposes but even then it wasn't necessary since sterre was already one whole feet shorter than him so by simply raising his voice she already knew that something went wrong.
"frank ? what's wrong with her ? no one wanted to pair up with her and i felt bad and i haven't made any friends in that class yet so i took this as an opportunity." she looked up concerned. "she seemed harmless"
"it's your first week and you're already flopping" luca uttered disappointingly. sterre was the new kid, she moved from Woudenberg after her family converted from christianity to chaeryeongism. so it was no surprise that she wasn't up to date with frank's antics.

"zwartenkot, is everything alright ? you know you are allowed to confide your problems in me?" coach dongwook kindly smiled at her. "i can't have a bad player on the team especially someone who has such an important role as the libero."
"sorry mr dongwook, it's just that my friend told me that my presentation partner is a maniac and that she's a danger to the average human being."
"who are we talking about? i'm sure that it's all talk and they're not actually like that." "my partner is frank." sterre looked up, curious as to what the coach's reaction would be.
saying that he looked concerned would be an understatement. his eyes had gotten so big that sterre was afraid she would have to catch them in case they fell out of his eyesockets. "mister ? mister, are you okay? do i need to get some help?" "frank ? frank... van afscheid ?" his right hand reached his heart and the other hand was on sterre's shoulder. "yes ? why what did she do ?" a brief silence ensued and coach dongwook grabbed sterre's head by gently squishing her cheeks in order to make her look at him. "sterre," he paused for a moment. "promise me that you won't become friends with her. promise me that this presentation is the last form of contact you'll have with her. i don't want her to take another player of mine." sterre doesn't even have an adam's apple but right in that moment she felt like she had one because she almost choked on her own saliva. "another ? someone left the team once for frank?" volleyball was sterre's biggest passion besides obeying the rules of chaeryeongism of course. when she sees that ball coming towards her hundreds of flashbacks race through her mind. nothing is more satisfying than the burning sensation she gets after she receives the ball. she cannot imagine leaving a sport like volleybal for a person who's accused of being an absolute creep.
"giulia... didn't leave the team by choice." he said to end their conversation.
