Levi x Android! Reader

~Inspired by Jacksepticeye's play through of Detroit: Become Human~

"-With the new MK420 model, you won't have to worry about-"

The voice coming from the TV was cut short when the black haired male changed the channel.

"Fucking Androids...." He sighed as he took a sip of the steaming hot tea from his cup. The rich black liquid made it's way down his throat and warmed him up, contrasting the cold atmosphere of the apartment.

6th January, 2070.

Androids, which were once a figment of science fiction, were now a necessity society couldn't progress without. They did all of the hard labour in speeds beyond human capabilities, worked as police officers, store clerks and even in homes as caretakers. Everywhere you went, any store, landmark or neighbourhood, there were Androids.

They looked and sounded exactly like humans, to the point where it was unnerving. They were unbelievably intelligent and efficient in their work. Technology had truly reached its peak with the creation of Artificial Life. But of course, there are negatives to every positive.

Unemployment was at an all time high due to the fact that Androids had replaced humans in countless jobs. They also had financial benefits, as they did not need to be paid wages once they had been bought. Many humans despised the Androids. Riots and protests were a common occurrence nowadays. Drug abuse had also run rampant, as many of these unemployed individuals scrambled to make money in any way possible, with a synthetic drug simply known as "Red Ice" being the most popular one at the moment.

Levi Ackerman was a man who didn't face any of the downsides of the integration of Androids in society. Yet, he wasn't overly fond of them. He had a stable, high paying job as a college professor and a roof over his head. For him, it wasn't the fact that they took things away from people, no. It was the fact that they appeared to be exactly like humans, but their eyes and mannerisms were soulless. They were machines that could be discarded at any time and they wouldn't protest. And for some reason, that made him uncomfortable.

It scared him.

He was brought out of his musings when he heard his doorbell ring. Taking one last sip of his tea, he set it down on the coffee table in front of him and got up from his position on the couch. The ebony floorboards were cold against his bare feet as he walked up to the entrance of his apartment, though he didn't seem bothered by it.

Levi opened the door, revealing a much larger fellow with an equally large box beside him. Levi raised his eyebrows, recognizing the man to be an Android.

Hange Zöe's Android, to be exact.

"Hello Levi." Moblit greeted with a smile.

It was a smile he thoroughly disliked, as there was no emotion behind it whatsoever.

"I have a package from Hange for you." The Android gestured to the box beside him.

Hange Zöe was one of Levi's closest friends. Their eccentric and outgoing personality contrasted heavily with Levi's more quiet, no-nonsense attitude. Hange was an Android enthusiast. They were thoroughly captivated by the machines and held copious amounts of knowledge about them. They worked at Cyberlife, the company that created the first Androids to pass the Turing Test and started making them available for the common public.

Levi pinched his nose, knowing full well what was in that box. Hange had been trying to get him to get an Android, but the short male refused each time. They were always sending him advertisements about the latest Androids and ones they thought he might like, but he turned them all down. But this was the first time Hange had actually sent him one.
