CHAPTER 4: It's not Heaven

We collected a few samples. I looked was looking around for the clues to find the real history behind the fort. Boss did know something. The tale might not be really true. I need to figure it out. 

Around 4 pm Mr. Henris told us that we were done for the day. So, leaving others, I went to the same place yesterday where I felt like I saw a shadow. I went near the window, I noticed something was engraved on the wall. When I took a closer look it said " You saw me, didn't you?"

A chill ran down my spine. I stopped breathing, I looked around and I see nothing. Okay, It might be someone just trying to prank me. I should just breathe.

The only sound I could hear was my own breath. I shouldn't have come here alone. When I took a step back, from the corner of my eye I saw something move. 

Seeing something once or twice might be hallucinating but again and again? I don't think so. I was scared to even gulp. It felt like something was stuck in my throat. I see the shadow approaching though it's still day. I know I should run but I-I'm too scared to move. I can feel the goosebumps all over my body and I can feel my body temperature drop. Out of nowhere, I hear music. I can hear my heartbeat rise.

"Here you are, we were searching--" Evan started. I cut him off by hugging him. Burying my vision.

"Hey, are you okay?" Evan asked.

I couldn't talk I feel numb, dizzy, and imbalanced. All I could do was shake my head.

Evan carried me to the fort's emergency room and laid me on the bed. I see a nurse approaching and then my vision went blank.

White ceiling, white curtains? Where am I?

Heaven?

When I look to my left I spot a worried Boss and to my right my seniors- Ashley and Evan. All asleep looking exhausted.

"SHE'S AWAKE" I hear a voice yell, which I immediately recognize as Sky.

And within a blink of an eye, everyone woke up.

"What are you watching? Go and call the nurse!" Mr. Henris ordered. And she left immediately.

Within a few moments, the nurse came took a few tests, and asked me to take some rest.

"How do you feel?" Mr. Henris asked.

"Apart from a slight headache, I feel okay, Sir" I replied trying to get up but failing miserably.

"Don't get up, you need some rest," Mr. Henris said.

"How long, Sir?" I asked.

Mr. Henris looked confused.

"How long was I asleep?" I added

"Oh that, it has been a few hours. It's 9 pm," He replied.

"oh," I said.

"What happened?" Evan said looking worried.

"I don't remember," I lied.

"The doctor said that your body got exhausted and that you needed rest," Evan said.

I nodded.

"The patient needs rest. Any one of you can stay with her. Rest should leave," The nurse announced.

"I'll stay" Mr. Henris, Evan and Sky said in unison.

I just turned to the side having no strength to hear the argument as to who to stay cause I know for sure Sky would. I fell asleep in no time.

"Come on, you don't remember me? "
"I don't--"
"LIAR!! You saw me, stop pretending you can't"
"No, I--"
"Where did you find that bracelet?"
"Why?"
"I don't have to answer you. Give it to me and I'll leave you"

I see him approaching me, to kill me.

"Mona! Mona! It's just a nightmare, Wake up," I feel someone waking me up.

That's when I remember that I've had this same dream on the day of the journey.

I woke up to see myself drenched in sweat and to a worried boss.

Mr. Henris? Here?

"Hey, are you okay?" I hear my boss ask.

"Mhmm" I nodded and shut my eyes back so that he won't ask any questions.
