Adam's POV

I guess it's true what they say, you can never really know a person.

My longtime friend just did that to me? It was a lot to take in.

I had my suspicions about the burglar incident though I hoped he had nothing to do with it. I was lost in my sea of thoughts when Emily approached me.

"Adam are you okay?" She looked genuinely bothered.

"Do I look okay?"
She nodded in negation.

"Just let me be I'll be fine." I turned away from her but she walked right up to me on the other side of the bed.

"Nope, that won't do. Come on, haven't you heard that a problem shared is half solved?"
She was really trying to help.

"Fine. It's just that I overreacted a bit out there. I was mad at Fred because he opened old wounds."

"I'm listening." She stared deeply at me.

"I'm just not happy with the way we are now. I feel like he's hiding things from me. In the past, he stole my girlfriend but she flirted with other guys too so I let it go. I just feel he's different these days." The way she paid rapt attention to me made me feel better.

"Have you told him how you feel? He might be going through something, you should talk it out okay?"

"You're right. I need to talk to him. Thank you."

"No problem, I can't imagine you guys falling out, I mean you're like his elder brother."
I couldn't stop myself from laughing at this which left her with a puzzled stare.

"Why does everyone think I'm older? Fred is older by two years."

"Really, wow. Well, you're hairy, look and act like a thirty-year-old boss who must have everything done as per his wish and you're bossy." She grinned weirdly.

"So I'm bossy now right?"

"Yep. Now before you activate bossy mode again let's go out of this room and you'll talk with Fred okay?"

"Sure"

Once we were in the living room, I discovered the door was open. Fred must have stepped out to get some fresh air.

"You know what Emily, let's go grocery shopping later in the afternoon. We need to stock up for the lockdown."

"You're right but... my grandma would be worried. It's been a week now. I wonder if my dad knows too, what if he's freaking out or my brother, he'll be terrified. My grandma is terrible but I've scared her enough she could have a heart attack or even die or just-"

"You'll be fine Emily breathe, relax for a second." I began to rub her shoulders so she'll calm down.

"Do you know your grandma's number or even your dad's?" I noticed her eyes were filled with worry. She looked like she would break apart any moment.

"I don't know their number by heart. My grandma was the worst while my dad and I always had our differences so I never learnt his number. The only number I knew was that of my younger brother but he changed his number recently." She said amidst sobs.

"Don't worry, we'll figure something out, you'll be fine okay" I hugged her and tried to comfort her.

"Let's take care of our problems one at a time. You know what let's go shopping now, I'll grab some things while you freshen up, I'll also pick a nose mask for you. Just relax okay. I'll be right back." Then I went to my room.

I took some cash, my car keys, debit card, nose masks and sanitiser.

"Okay, I'm ready Emily." She quickly came out of her room. She had brushed her hair, cleaned her face and wore her sandals.
