It was quiet. Well, not entirely. Techno was just staring out of his window, at the square, where people actually enjoyed life. He stared. He wondered. Yet it was still quiet in his room. He saw how the people danced, they talked, and they laughed. Yet the laughter didn't reach his ears, the joy didn't radiate off to him. Oh, how he wants it to.
He heard his guards outside his door even they were having fun, while Techno was just sitting in his room. His crown lays on his head, such a weight. His pink hair usually filled him up with joy, something so so special on him. He stood up, his cape flowing majestically behind him.
He thought about the consequences or at least– he thought about them to some extent. If he was caught, was the key sentence. His father, oh his father, would definitely ground him, not that he doesn't have good reasons to, but.. Techno wants to live his life as well. He opened his window quietly. He paused for a second before, just rethinking it. He found no flaws in his plan.
He took off his crown, his cape, he tied his hair up in a ponytail. He decided that would be good enough. He just had to blend in a bit, only a little. He looked out to the town, he breathed in the fresh air of spring. He breathed out. He now heard the music.
He jumped. He walked towards the motion.
Not so far, but not so close either, a blonde boy was seen from a window of the most popular bakery in town. He was cute, as blonde boys often are. He was finishing his shift, just folding his apron and brushing the countertops with a towel. "Niki!" He yelled out, although would it really be considered yelling if it was almost as quiet as a whisper.
He breathed out. "Make sure to lock up when you leave!" A woman, more a young girl, comes out of the backrooms. "I'm not that idiotic, Dreamie." She smiles, he laughs.
If there was someone watching the windows they wouldn't understand anything that was going on. They'd just see 2 people talking in a bakery. Almost like they're siblings.
"Hey, wait." Dream was already half a step out the door, yet he still paused. He supposes Niki brings out the best in him, he will always listen and wait for her. "Come to the square with me." And Niki looked all so desperate, every bit of her face sad. But Dream knew it was her way of asking him to come. He even considers it, on other days he would not even let the thought enter his mind. "Please? The stars will be out today."
And Dream's mind instantly goes to his past, to his present, to his future. How he loves the stars, how they remind him of everything and nothing at once. "Of course, Niki." And she has such a stupid grin on her face he wants to punch it off her. But he won't. He loves her as well.
They close up together and when they leave the sun is still out. But Dream can tell the sun will set, then it will be his favorite time. He hears the birds, he breathes the fresh air. He hears Niki talk about some plans, but he tunes it out. Oh how he longs to see the stars come out.
When the music gets louder he knows they've made it, but he doesn't seem to hate it as much as he usually does. Once a month, sometimes even a fortnight, their town hosts a gathering. He doesn't go, he never does, Niki has her own friends and Dream is usually left alone. This time is no different. She quickly finds some girls to talk to, a drink in her hands, and a partner to dance with. Yet Dream looks up at the sky, so unaware of someone watching him, he enjoys the calming breeze. He sees the light oranges, yellows, purples appearing in the sky, the blues slowly disappearing. He smiles.
The pinkette loves observing people, for example he sees an older couple dancing in the middle of the square, he loves it, it reminds him of his parents. He sees a group of girls talking and laughing with drinks in their hands. It reminds him of.. nothing. He can't place it, but it feels so warm. He sees little children running around the fountain, it reminds him of his brother. Techno loves seeing his family in others. He sees a boy, a man, a boy? not so far off in the distance. A dark green coat and blonde hair peeking out from underneath the hood. Interesting, he thinks.
