No Pov
Suga and Hinata made the trip to the grey haired boy's place in ten minutes, just as he said. As they approached the large brick building Hinata gawked at how tall and fancy it was. The bricks were a light grey and there were a bunch of huge windows. Each one had a small balcony coming off of it.
"Wow Suga-san! This place is amazing!"
"Oh, thanks, but it really isn't all that."
"Nonsense! I've never even seen a building like this before!"
"Well they are pretty hard to come by this far away from the city."
They continued to chatter back and forth as the went into the elevator and up to the third floor. Sugawara unlocked the door to reveal a decently sized apartment. The walls were a pale yellow and the floor was white oak with plush grey throw rugs scattered throuought the rooms. The furnature was minimalistic, but still very comfortable looking and, Hinata noted, there wasn't a TV in sight.
The two volleyball nuts kicked off their shoes at the front door and slipped on some slippers that sat in a basket(some japanese households have slippers for guests because its rude to wear shoes in the house).
"Dinner should be here in about twenty minutes."
"Thank you Suga-san!"
"Please drop the honorifics! There really isn't any need for them, seeing as how we've been friends since the begining of the year."
"But you're my senpai! It would be rude for me to just call you by your name!"
"Really, it's fine," Sugawara insisted.
"Well, if that's the case then you can just call me Hinata!"
"Alright Hinata," Suga said with a smile. "Why don't you take a seat and we can talk some more!"
"Ok!" Hinata plopped down on the couch and admired the room. "Wow Suga, your parents must work really hard to be able to afford all of this! When are they coming home? I'd love to thank them for having me in their home!"
"Hinata, my parents don't live here."
"What do you mean?"
"I live here by myself. Its just me and Miyuki, my cat."
"But Suga! That's illegal! You're only 17!"
"I was emmancipated when I turned 16. My parents kicked me out the day I told them I'm gay," Suga said with a dry chuckle.
"O-Oh..."
"I sell paintings and do freelance artwork so that I can afford this. When I'm not at school or in practice I'm painting."
Hinata stayed silent, not exactly sure what he should say. The air was tense and awkward, that is, until there was a knock at the door.
"That must be the sushi!" Suga jumped up with a smile and payed the delivery man before returning with a platter of beautiful food.*Time skip*
"So Hinata," Suga said through a mouthful of sushi, "What's your home like?"
Hinata nearly choked at the question before swollowing what was in his mouth. "Its fine, you know. Pretty normal."
"You suck at lying," Suga deadpanned. "Wanna try again?"
"Oh, well it really isn't that bad. It's just me and my mom. I have a little sister too, but she lives with her dad and his other family."
"What happened to your dad?"
"He passed away the same year I was born. I never knew him. My sister Natsuo's dad was really nice though. He treated me well, but left when my sister turned four."
"If you don't mind my asking, why did he leave?"
"My mom. She was on a downward spiral after losing her job again. Her mental health wasn't the best, so he left and took my sister with him. They moved to America together and I stayed behind with mom."
Suga waited patiently for the ginger to continue, knowing he wasn't finished.
"She really is a good person, but she was never meant to have a family."
"Hinata, about what you said earlier... About you being gay..." Suga took a deep breath. "Does your mom ever hurt you?"
Hinata's whole body tensed. His eyes were wide and his hands were clenched.
"No, why would you ever think that Suga?"
"You're lying again," Suga said as tears filled his eyes. "Your body language just changed severly."
"I-I don't know what you're talking about. My m-mother would never hurt me."
Suga didn't say anything else, but pulled the baby crow into his chest. Hinata relaxed into the embrace and wrapped his arms around the older teen, eventually letting out quiet sobbs as he clenched the other's shirt in his hands.
"Nobody w-was supposed t-to know... She s-said she wou-would hurt m-me worse if I-I told anyone..."
Sugawara burried his rage for another time and focussed on comforting his underclassman. He tightened his grip on the boy.
"You can't go back there."
"B-but I have nowere else to g-go..."
"You can stay here, but I'm not letting you go back there."
"B-but I'll be a burden..."
"No."
"W-what?"
Suga pulled away from the hug and looked Hinata directly in the eyes.
"Don't you dare ever say that again. You'll never be a burden. I'll find a way to support you. No matter what, it'll be worth it just knowing that you're not going back to that house and being hurt."
Hinata lunged forward and hugged the grey haired teen even tighter than before, eventually falling asleep.
Suga gently lifted Hinata and layed him in the bed. He cleaned up the mess from dinner befor laying on the couch, seeing as how there was a baby crow sleeping in his bed at the moment.
Tomorrow was going to be interesting.____________________________________
