Home alone
My aunt had left first thing on Wednesday morning, I had helped her with packing and watched till she drove off, it was around 7:30 in the morning, I still had about 1h30m left before I went to school. I had nothing to do, so I went to the living room and tried watching TV, I tuned into the early morning news station.
news caster : good morning people of canberra, my name is Ensia George and these are the headlines for today,
GOVERNMENT CANDIDATES SAYS THEY ARE FULLY PREPARED FOR THE UPCOMING ELECTIONS
BODY OF COLLEGE STUDENT FOUND IN SCHOOL'S LOCKER ROOM.....What she said last caught my attention, I became more focused on the news, then the picture of my school suddenly popped up and I stared at the screen intently trying to figure out what was happening. I should have turn off the TV, but I didn't and then the next thing I saw was enough to bring back my nightmares, the lifeless body of a girl being carried out of the school's locker room. Before I could see the face of the deceased, the news caster was back on the screen.
News caster: due to this incident, all the students of the identified school have been instructed to stay home until everything has died down. We will be meeting with the.....
I switched off the TV before she could finish her sentence, I went straight to my room and started dressing up, instead of my regular jean, I wore a sweatpant and my favorite hoodie. Even after the announcement, I just couldn't sit at home, I grabbed the house keys and started heading towards the school.
On getting there the whole school was surrounded with the police and hospital attendants. I managed to slip past them into the school vicinity, I started going towards the locker room, my head kept telling me to stop, but my legs had plans of their own.
Fortunately, a police officer stopped me in my track and asked where I was headed, I couldn't tell him "the locker room", so I said something else.
"I was headed to my class sir" I said politely.
"Miss you shouldn't be in the school premises right now, you should go home" he said looking really serious.
"Okay, I'll leave but can I at least know the name of the victim ?" I said with my attempted cute voice.
"I'm sorry miss, I can't give you any information on the victim"
He's definitely not easy to persuade. I left him and went towards the school entrance, on my way out, I caught a glimpse of two people in the principal's office. I was pretty sure I saw Noah, but since we were instructed to stay home, I was probably hallucinating.
I was almost at the gate when I heard one of the paramedics shouting over the blaring ambulance siren.
"Annabelle Smith, 19 years old, college......" I couldn't hear the rest of his words as I slipped past the security.
That name sure sounds familiar, she is on the cheerleading squad, she was the girl who was almost as good as me with her stunts. I ran back home as fast as my legs could carry me, memories of my friends came flooding through my head again. The minute I got inside I broke down in tears, "am I cursed or something? Why do people around me keep dying?" I cried out.I woke up and I was still at the same spot I was five hours ago, I had cried myself to sleep, it was already around 2pm. I was home alone, so I had to feed myself, I went to the kitchen to get something to eat but it looked like my aunt forgot to go grocery shopping before she left. I took the house keys and headed out, at least that way I could clear my head. The supermarket was at least thirty to forty-five minutes walk from my house, I got to the supermarket and went about my business before I felt someone tap my shoulder and I turned to find out who it was, and it was Noah.
"Hey' I saw you when you walked in here and I decided to say hi" he said.
"More like you have been stalking me"my head was screaming.
"Hey Noah, you don't look like the type to go grocery shopping" I said laughing lightly.
"Keep it cool hay" I whispered trying to calm myself on the inside.
"Did you say something?" He asked confused.
"Whaaat, no" I said. I'm pretty sure I sounded ridiculous but as long as he doesn't notice my nervous state I'm safe.Few minutes later I finished with my shopping and walked to the cashier, Noah was with me the whole time but he wasn't buying anything.
"Aren't you going to get anything?" I asked.
"I can just come back later, since I'm kinda enjoying your company" he said.
"Oh okay" I was totally unsure of what to say.
We left the supermarket together and he started walking me home, there was this awkward silence hanging in the air, then I remembered seeing him in school that morning.
"Hey, did you see the news this morning?" I asked him, I could have just asked him directly but for some unknown reasons I decided to act like a freaking detective.
"No, I didn't, what happened?" He asked definitely curious.
"It was some news about a girl who died in our school" I said, trying to read his expression.
"Ooh, I didn't hear anything of such" his facial expression was totally blank as he said all of that.
"You must have gone to school then, didn't you notice that no one was in school?" I seriously need to stop with this detective style of talking.
"Yes I actually went to school with my dad, he wanted to see the principal about something. Oh I remember seeing the police and hospital attendants at the school, but I didn't really pay attention to what they were there for" he said plainly. He sure is very good at hiding his emotions, but not for long.Woah woah woah 👌 another chapter finally up.
Am I the only one getting all the creepy feeling about Noah?
