Lee Chang Min was feeling especially under the water today. He could not know why, but when he woke up this morning, he was feeling like he was dead already. Not that he could tell anything about death, though sometimes, he felt like he saw something in his dreams which resembled death. Of a hotel for ghosts, and he could feel that he was working there for some odd reasons. Of a beautiful yet bratty and sassy girl, bossing him around. He didn't know why, when he was in Seoul, he could feel himself trying to find the best restaurants for trying all his favorite food around the world. Sometimes, he dreamed of that same beautiful girl, enjoying some or the other food across Seoul. Of her calling someone named Chan Sung. The dreams were mysterious enough and came when he was the most tired like yesterday night when the girl told him that he loved him in his dreams. It left him feeling very cared for, and left him with the feeling of contentment. But it was not the case today morning. He felt that he was coming down with a slight fever, and he knew the reason for it. Unseasonal rains had hit Singapore yesterday and he was drenched completely due to that.
He called in for sick leave and immediately got a call from his father. He knew that this was coming. As the heir to one of the leading hotel chains around the globe, he was currently working with the Singapore Hotel as a Senior Manager for the past six months. Heirs his age in Seoul were partying and having the time of their life, but not him. His father was unlike any parent in the world. Despite being born in a Chaebol family, he was never spoilt by his father. His father used more of the American ideology and made him work to earn his keep. Even though Chang Min was given the best of the best in everything, he still used to work as an intern at the Seoul hotel when he turned sixteen, and even when he went to study in America, he still continued working as an intern. Many of his friends laughed at him, but the lessons that his father gave him kept him humble, grounded, and the best at the business. At the age of 26, he was more than capable of working as the CEO of the chain but still insisted on going around the world, working under the various hotels that his family-owned, saying that he wanted the experience. He was a hard worker and if he was found taking a leave, it was immediately notified to his father, the President of the hotel group. As he picked up the phone, he heard the worrying tone of his father soothing him. As he assured that he would be fine, and okay and his father had no need for flying down to Singapore today, Chang Min went back to sleep.
After two days, when he returned to the hotel, there was a minor amount of chaos going on. Their hotel had a guest who was being very uncooperative with the staff. She had arrived two days earlier and within a span of 2 days, she had gone through 4 attendants working for her. He inquired about the guest with Ms. Yoon Chan Mi, the head housekeeper of the hotel. Again, the feeling of déjà Vu stuck him. Ms. Yoon was a housekeeper who was in her late thirties, with twins, and she was very nice and kind and a wonderful single mother of twin girls, but today, looking at her he could feel her stern voice at the back of her mind saying that if he wore that tiger print suit again, he would lose all the respect at his job, which was strange because he would never own such an outrageous thing in his life. As he pulled his head out of his imaginary conversation and tried to focus on Ms. Yoon, he gleaned that the uncooperative guest was the Korean television star Luna. She had recently turned 28 and was a huge rage in Korea. She was so famous that he too knew who she was, even though he had never watched any of her work. Chang Min believed that television was a waste of time and as he was a workaholic of the highest order, he couldn't afford to give his time watching television when he could be working or building connections across businesses.
Luna was currently being housed along with the cast and crew of the drama in the hotel and within a few short days, she had scared the staff enough that they were afraid to work with such a demanding actress. Only Ms. Kang was able to tolerate her and please her to some extent and she was hence, stuck working for the new guest in the hotel. As Ms. Yoon took him towards the presidential suite, she told Chang Min that Kim Narae, the name of the actress Luna was in a rage due to the unseasonal rains that had delayed her schedule and hence she was very inconvenienced about it. As he neared the suite, he took a deep breath. It wasn't the first time he had dealt with a celebrity, and he was sure that he could handle her. As he knocked on the door a girl opened the door. Again, he was stuck with a sense of déjà vu, because he knew in his gut that he knew this girl. Flashbacks of the girl working under him as an intern flashed through his mind, which was weird as he never took any interns. The girl introduced herself as Kang Min Young and she said that she was the temporary assistant to Luna for the duration of the trip. As she smiled at them and told them to wait in the sitting room while she fetched Luna, Chang Min felt a ball of nerves in his stomach. He was never nervous like this before.
But the bundle of nerves grew, till he heard the clicking sound of high heels across the floor coming from the passageway that led towards the Master Bedroom of the suite. As the actress Luna came into his view, the bundle of nerves disappeared. He stood up abruptly and Luna looked up from her phone. At that moment, a myriad of scenes flashed across his eyes, of him kissing her, of her curling beside him, going to sleep. Of her saying 'I love you' to her and him saying those words back to her. Of her sitting beside him when they were children, drawing a circle representing the moon and hashing a line across the moon, saying that her name was Man Wol. These scenes flashed across his eyes in split seconds as they both stood in front of each other.
Taking a deep breath, he said, "Hello, I'm Lee Chang Min, the manager of this hotel and what can I help you with?" he smiled remembering an obscure memory. The girl in front of him calling him 'Harvard Scammer' to his face.
