Your Counsellor: S__Shah

Confession:
I want to become a good writer but I've no one to guide me or tell me about my mistakes and the alteration it needs.

People like my work but they are not reviewers. It would be a great help if I find someone to guide me sincerely.  I just need your help in building up myself

Thank you for establishing the brown community. I am so glad to have you. I will always support you guys.

Your Counsellor's words:

Hi,

First of all congratulations on starting this journey of writing. I hope you enjoy it thoroughly and this experience gives you lot's of memories and skills to cherish.

I know you've probably heard or been told this thousand of times before, but I'll tell you again - Just do it, just start writing and post your first chapter on Wattpad. A few years ago I was in the same situation as you, wanting to write but not knowing where to start, and the thought of making mistakes, my story turning out to be bad haunting me. I took a leap of faith typing whatever came to my mind and posting it on Wattpad. It can be really scary but to improve your writing you will have to take that first step.

After you've taken that first step you can either join a book club/ get your book reviewed through review books/shops where people will read your book and give you feedback which will help improve your writing. In fact, @BrownHousehold has a review book, Benevolent which is filled with amazing reviewers who would love to help you out. This will highlight the areas which need to be improved and also show you what your greatest strengths are in writing.

Also, people who read your book, even though they might not be professional reviewers, are one of the greatest critics. Maybe at the end of the chapter leave a note asking for suggestions/ what they liked. Look at all their comments carefully as that is what will tell you what you need to improve on/ what they loved about your story.

I really wish you enjoy this journey of writing and write some great books. One thing I've learnt when writing a book is that readers/critics' views are the best way to improve. At the same time have confidence in yourself and your writing skills. Write about things that you love, and most importantly have fun and enjoy the process of writing because when you do something you like, you produce the greatest results.

@BrownHousehold will always be there if you need any help or have any questions. You can always reach out to our private message and ask any question. We will be glad to help you out.
Good luck on your journey!!
