"Raise your hand and Turn around" The woman ordered, We didn't have many options therefore we followed. She went towards us and shine a flashlight on our eyes, It felt like she was checking for something.
She backed off and puts down her gun "Come inside" She unpleasantly offered.
The woman Looked like she was in her mid 30's, although she looked tiered with her bags under her eye. I guess she hasn't gotten much sleep. We followed her inside and offered to sit down on her couch. One thing I noticed was her windows and doors, They were already boarded up.
But The news was just announced earlier, how could she be already prepared for this. It's like she knew that something bad was gonna happened, cause theirs absolutely no way she boarder up all her windows just this morning. I looked around much more and saw some kid's drawings placed on her colorful fridge. She might have kids, I guess...
"Ah... I just want to say... Thank you for letting us into your home. My name is Devin and he's Austin..."
She didn't respond to what I said. She remained silent and unbothered by what she was doing. She was Knitting a torn apart stuffed animal, It was a bear with a loose arm.
" Is that for you child? or children?" I asked, lighting up the mood. but she remained silent and continued on knitting.

I sat quietly with Austin and just ignore the thick awkward atmosphere surrounding us and her. She hasn't spoken to us, but we didnt wanted to be rude or seem like a bother to her.
After a solid 5 minutes of awkwardly sitting, Austin has completely passed out on the couch. I looked for my phone and realized that It wasn't in my pocket anymore. It might have fallen right after we were running for our lives. I must not notice it.
